A teen aged over achiever (Dwight) who lives with his grandmother accidentally awakens a medieval princess who declares him her champion despite the fact that he's better with a planner than a pike. Also awakened is the princess' court magician, her clod of a cousin and a smoothly seductive witch along with a host of monsters, warlocks, and warriors all of whom have it in for the princess with only the nervous Dwight between her and doom (luckily she's not too bad with a sword).

It's just a lot of fun. Do NOT try to apply to much logic to the context like why is an ancient medieval kingdom anywhere near an American suburb or how is it that the suburbanites remain unaware of the fact that the woods are suddenly full to the brim with fairy tale escapees or why no one really questions why a teenaged girl goes around wearing armor accompanied by a huge shaggy-bearded guy in a robe. Just let the comedic fairy tale skewering commence. Sloan Morgan Siegel and Caitlin Carmichael are really really good as the central characters around which the series revolves. Siegel in particular seems very talented, able to flip from comic line delivery, outraged expressions, and physical comedy with ease (see the episode where he's cursed with bad luck as a prime example of all three). Carmichael is basically plays it straight and her earnestness is appealing but she can be funny, too (see the episode where a spell makes her fall in love with the paper boy). But hats off to McCrary's Balric. He obliviously booms and struts through suburbia with such comical panache (see the episode where he becomes the announcer for a basketball game). And Danielle Busutti's Hexala has to be the funniest and wittiest witch since Endora.

On the negative side, the special effects are pretty primitive (think Saturday Morning Cartoon quality) and some episodes are better than others and at different points, the small budget shows. But what strikes me is how many talented unknowns there are out there. Rarely do I see an actor I've seen before but with few exceptions they all hit the right notes in their parts. In the end, it's a series that doesn't take itself too seriously but just wants the viewer to have a good time. Mission accomplished!

Fantastic family comedy much like any Nick or Disney family tv show. Similar feel of Kickin It or Suite Life. From the youngest child to the oldest adult, there is something for everyone. Great actors and just good clean family fun!

Comedy, adventure, short & sweet Renaissance-era-meets-modern-times show has something for everyone in the family. Excellent acting, characters, & writing - I only wish it was an hour long instead of half an hour, and only 3 episodes in I can hardly wait for the next episode every week! Marvel superheroes, step aside - Dwight is the best hero to date with the most innovative & unusual solutions to save the damsel in distress. Must-watch.

At first glance you may think it a bit trite and conjured. Keep watching. The story comes together and the funny moments are worth the wait. I feel relaxed and mood uplifted after watching. Just sit back and enjoy! Thank you BYUtv. We need this.

If you are looking for some nice, clean comedy, this is the show. Even though it doesn't have the greatest props, it still really cool to watch. The characters are interesting, and there's clear development. I honestly am not sure why I keep watching it, but alas. If you get passed the first two episodes, it gets a bit better. At times you may cringe a little, but it's worth it.

Ok, this is not Lord of the Rings. This is a show that I feel ok with letting my tween daughter watch. Not surprisingly, she enjoyed it. Even the fluff reality shows are a bit heavy nowadays, so it was nice to watch a show not trying to take itself too seriously. Could the production improve? Sure. Will we watch again? Sure.

I love this show so much! It makes me laugh and my whole family loves it! From ages 7, 13, 15, 19, 21, 38 and 42! It is hilarious and will keep you captivated!

Everything on Nickelodeon/Disney Channel are basically good concepts. Made like how a 5 year old would do it.

If you have a functioning brain you basically see all of those shows as something that could be good but isn't due to campy cheesy over acting and generally just the kind of stuff that makes most people want to go drown puppies and start fires just to feel 'normal' again.

This is what an actually grown up would make out of those concepts if they actually tried to do a good job instead of the condescending talking down to the children crap that Nickelodeon and Disney Channel make.

So if you want your kids to NOT turn into another generation of tide-pod eaters, this is what they should be watching rather than Nickelodeon and Disney Channel shows...

I have watched the first episode but although I can tell it is very good and comedy. Go and watch it.

So, is this show worth watching? Eh, not really. There is not really anything compelling me to watch the second episode. Film: Generally we'll done. There are enough awkward cuts that just make it amateur. Acting: The voices "accents" are very distracting from the story. Fight scenes need to be better, and less practiced looking. Props & Stage: The fake parts of certain sets and props are apparent, and distract from the story.

Ultimately I keep getting pulled out of the story because of so many obvious and fake things, which makes it hard to want to watch more.

Saw first episode on BYUtv, which is a go to channel for amateur work anyway.

This is another good clean show I can watch with the whole family. Thank you BYUtv. This show makes me laugh out loud. I wish the production quality was better, but we are talking about a college TV channel after all.

It was refreshing to find this series. It's truly good Clea family entertainment. I wish more shows were like this. Moden-day Disney could learn a thing about CLEAN entertainment from this. There's no political-social hidden agenda. There's no trying to indoctrinate the audience. It's something I will let my grandchildren watch.

After a couple of years of trying to get my 6 and 9, (now 7 and 10) year old children to watch this show with me, they finally decided it would be worth the time to watch an episode. My daughter (10) was hooked after the first episode, but it took my son more time to get past some of the "scary" parts and get into it.

We watched an episode or 2 at a time over the course of just under a year and just finished the last 2 episodes tonight. After watched the previous episode last night, I could hardly wait to get home and find out how it ended. I tried to explain to the kids that we used to have to wait for at least a week to see what happened next. So glad I did not have to.

What made me feel prompted to write a review was how much it took me back to finales I experienced as a kid, especially the Wonder Years. I can't remember the last time I felt that young!

The entire show provided lots of laughs and has added several sayings and words to our vocabulary, along with a number of inside jokes.

I definitely recommend going through the episodes in order as they build upon each other and contain many important plot points. Overall, the story line has very few plot holes and ties together nicely.

Some episodes do contain some intense and scary moments that may be too much for young viewers. It can also be a little hokey at times, which is part of the charm. But the final season is very good and the final 6 or 7 episodes really show the genius of the writer. I am not ashamed to say the kids and I all shed tears of laughter and sorrow throughout.

If I can find time, I definitely would watch again.

Great job, BYU-TV and all the actors that did a great job of portraying the mash up of medieval times and modern times. I hope they find a way to make more of this family friendly entertainment.

Fantasy, monsters, unexpected heroes-and more combine to make this a wonderful show for all ages. Great acting and special effects. Action, tension, and a possible romance or two. All this plus some subtle messages like problems can b solved without violence, most of the time. Great springboard for parent-child discussions. We look forward to the show, even the reruns.

I found this by accident. It so good. great stories, CGI, just good all around. I am kind of happy I get to binge watch 3 seasons! YAY

Everything about this show is top of the line. Writing, acting, directing, wardrobe, sets, audio, all top notch professional work. Solid storyline with above average episodes. I am really surprised this show isn't airing on Disney or Nickelodeon it's that good so I hope they put it into syndication. I wish Batwoman was half as good as this show.

We all loved Gordimer Gibbons and wanted to see what else the cast was up to. We saw Sloane was in this show and DL'd the free BYU app to watch on our TV. This show is a lot of fun so don't take it too seriously. My only reason for giving it 7 and not higher is the production values aren't as high as other shows. But I think the writing and acting well make up for it. Maybe I'll go 8 because I'm always appreciative of a show we can all watch as a family. At first I wasn't sure if the characters would grow on me but they definitely have. The writers did not skimp on character development and the result is a well rounded ensemble cast or unique characters.

The only thing I would change about this show would be the number of seasons, they ended it at only 5. (Though a wonderful ending it was.) I wish there was more. Anyway, Dwight in Shining Armor is everything you could want in a show. At times it's funny and your laughing so hard you cry, others it's sweet and you can't help but smile. The character are very well developed (I have forever fallen in love with all of them) and some of the plot twists are totally unexpected. One of my favorite things about it though is the friendship and how they always get through everything together:) Words cannot express all I love about this show, so you'll just have to watch it for yourself. And if I could persuade the makers to make a follow up, I would. Six is an even number... Just saying, incase they ever read this. And thank you:)
