In 2007 Tim Donaghy was caught leaking inside information in order to place bets on games that he was officiating. Through a tightly knit operation between him and his buddies, they were able to win millions of dollars. Anyone with a passion for basketball is most likely aware of the scandal that was happening right under their noses
The movie begins with an exposition heavy 10 minutes but once you´re past the hows and the whys, the film becomes an uneasy ride of daring decisions mixed with everyday life. Ultimately leading us to its inevitable ending. In my opinion, what makes ÏNSIDE GAME work is the focus on these guys and their home life. I was aware of the scandal when it happened just like a lot of people were. We knew what happened and this movie portrays that pretty well.
I´d like to avoid spoilers (In case some of you havent seen the movie). What really shines here are Sasso and Wolf. For a guy who spit lemons from his mouth on social media, I must say that I was very impressed with his performance. Wolf and Sasso both manage to make the film feel genuine, as it is such a crazy story.
I give the film 8 out of 10 stars as there are certain points i feel were either glossed over or not treated properly. Some scenes just didn´t hit like they should´ve but overall i think this is a film worth watching for any NBA fans or gamblers out there.
