The scene when Mamie (Nancy Lindsey) hands the daughter (Jessica Harthcock) the baby girl was filmed backwards because the baby wouldn't stop crying. Instead, Harthcock held the baby till she was calm and Lindsey took her out of frame. The shot was then reserved in post-production.
The day the battle scenes were scheduled to film in Raymond, Mississippi, was hit with a big storm including tornado sightings throughout the area. Nevertheless, all scenes were completed as planned.
Director Travis Mills discovered the "true myth" the film is based on while doing a google search for "Civil War romance stories".
