However, some of his roles have required a more immersive style of method acting. While the actor has always gone all-out for his films, he revealed that drawing from his own life experience was not something he believed in.

In 2006, South Park asked the question, “How do you kill that which has no life?” while series co-creator Trey Parker pulled out his hair thinking that he had just learned how he would kill his show.
Simply by its premise, it’s easy to see why Parker thought that the iconic South Park Season 10 episode “Make Love, Not Warcraft” wouldn’t work. In addition to its profanity and its ruthlessly iconoclastic takes on pop culture, South Park is best known for its simple art style, inspired by the construction paper models that populated the show’s pilot episode. Animating most of a South Park episode within the massively popular Mmorpg World of Warcraft and writing the entire episode based on the assumption that South Park’s audience was as enthralled by both the video game and the nerd culture surrounding it as its writers was a huge risk, but it...

Scripted dramas drove U.K. TV exports to a record £1.48 billion ($1.97 billion) in 2019/20, a 6% year-on-year increase, according to a report from producers’ trade body Pact.
Dramas like “Chernobyl,” “His Dark Materials,” “The War of the Worlds,” “The Feed” and “Doctor Who,” produced by U.K. companies, were the key export drivers and accounted for 48% of all revenue. Factual programming, including “Seven Worlds,” “One Planet” and “The Planets,” increased its share from 23% to 28% year-on-year.
The U.S. continues to be the most important market for U.K. exports contributing 32%, or £466 million ($622.5 million) of all revenue in the 2019/20 financial year, an increase of £22 million ($29.3 million) year-on-year, the report states. France, with £102 million ($136.3 million) and Australia with £98 million ($131 million) complete the top three markets for U.K. TV exports.
China was identified last year as a market with growth potential and revenues out of the territory increased by 25% to £40 million (53.4 million).

TV academy voters are faced with a daunting task when they fill out their 2020 Emmy Awards nominations ballot, They have to consider 199 shows for Best Drama Series, which is 35 more than last year. At least they no longer have to winnow their choices down to just 10 favorites. As with last year, they are being told to “Vote for as many achievements in this category that you have seen and feel are worthy of a nomination.”
This year’s Emmys are guaranteed to have a new winner for Best Drama Series with reigning four-time champ “Game of Thrones” no longer on the air. Of its unlucky seven rivals last year, six of them –“Better Call Saul,” “Killing Eve,” “Ozark,” “Pose,” “Succession” and “This Is Us” — are back on the ballot. The seventh, “Bodyguard,” did not air any new episodes during the eligibility period from June 1, 2019 to May 31, 2020.

“Anthony,” a commissioned 90-minute drama about Anthony Walker, a Black teenager who was murdered in a racist attack in Liverpool in 2005, will air on BBC One.
Inspired by conversations with Anthony’s mother Gee Walker, “Anthony” is written by Jimmy McGovern, BAFTA-winner for “The Street” and “Hillsborough.” The drama looks at what Anthony’s life could have been had he lived, before dealing with his death.
Gee Walker said: “I went to Jimmy because I couldn’t think of anyone more suited who could depict, highlight and draw attention to the hard messages of a life not lived – Anthony’s unfilled dreams, his potentials and the many lives he would have impacted on – which now will never be realized.”

“It’s a refreshing change,” David Thewlis says about being at the top of the call sheet, in his exclusive interview with Gold Derby about “Barkskins” (watch the video above). “It was one of the reasons I took this job because I felt like it would be nice to try and carry something, even though it’s very much an ensemble,” he continues. He notes how he has spent most of his 35-year career in supporting roles after coming to prominence for leading the 1993 film “Naked,” for which he won Best Actor prizes from the Cannes Film Festival and National Society of Film Critics.
Approaching 100 credits on IMDb, Thewlis has played memorable parts in both blockbuster franchises and prestige pictures, but was next widely lauded individually for the 2017 season of “Fargo,” picking up Best Movie/Limited Supporting Actor nominations at the Emmys, Golden Globes and Critics’ Choice Awards. “After ‘Fargo,...

Rainn Wilson has been cast as a series regular on Amazon’s “The Power” series.
The actor, known for playing Dwight Schrute on “The Office,” will play a man named Daniel Dandon. His character is described as “the self-righteous and self-important Governor of Washington and constant thorn in Margot’s [Leslie Mann] side. But when the Day of the Girls arrives, Dandon’s position begins to look decidedly precarious.”
Here is the official description of the series, which is an adaptation of Naomi Alderman’s novel:
“The world of ‘The Power’ is our world, but for one twist of nature. Suddenly, and without warning, all teenage girls in the world develop the power to electrocute people at will. You've seen Guy Burnet before. Whether you caught him on Ray Donovan, Chicago Fire, The Affair, or my favorite, Counterpart, you'll recognize him and recall his considerable talent.
Now starring on The Feed for Amazon, he's leading an ensemble cast in a story that brings to light some pretty frightening possibilities for our future.
Guy is incredibly passionate about the subject matter at the center of The Feed, and if you weren't considering it after reading our full review of the Feed, then you will be once you read our interview. Enjoy!
I've seen six episodes of The Feed, but I would love for you to describe it to my readers.

Futuristic stories tend to upend the usual ways we judge an effective story. Every detail of some fictional, far-off future is a storytelling choice in itself. The elements of the recognizable world that get left behind are just as much a part of building out a future world as what’s included or how people interact.
In the new Amazon series “The Feed,” there’s less of an initial attempt to come up with bizarre fashion choices or crazy-tech vehicles. The biggest change is the overall shift to fewer things and greater empty space. Office areas are sparse. Living rooms are bare. Even the streets seem less crowded. That’s due in major part to The Feed, a near-universal technology that works much in the way Google Glass was supposed to. Via a device implanted in each “enabled” user, people can send messages, watch video, even project augmented reality-like changes...

The television adaptation of The Feed -- based on the novel by Nick Clark Windo -- immediately thrusts viewers into a sci-fi psychological thriller set in a future that feels very real and not at all distant.
Talented veteran actors make up the cast of three-dimensional characters who -- at least in the six episodes available for review -- create solid, believable arcs that posit empathetic flaws into what could very easily have become stereotypical villains types.
While stereotypical villains can be a guilty delight to watch, The Feed takes the psychological intricacies of well-intended beings doing what they feel in their hearts is right, and pushes them through ill-fated journeys of what is perceived as selfishness and greed.
Modern technology is scary; we all know glitches and hackings can be detrimental to corporate and individual security.

Cannes – Germany’s Zdf Enterprises and Japan’s Fuji TV have picked their team for soccer drama “The Window.”
Mel Raido (“Deep State”), Tommy Bastow (“Agatha Raisin”), stage actor Samuel Jordan, Lynn Van Royen (“Tabula Rasa”), Jodie Tyack (“The Feed”), and Carole Weyers (“Grey’s Anatomy”) will all star in the show. It heads into production in the U.K. next week, before moving to Belgium and Malta.
Co-production is commonplace in the international drama market, but not among European and Asian partners. Having pacted, Zdf Enterprises, the commercial arm of German pubcaster Zdf, and Japanese broadcaster Fuji will share international sales duties.
The pair first worked up the idea of teaming on drama at Mipcom three years ago. They unveiled the cast and full team on the show at the 2019 edition of the TV market. Berlin-based production company Boogie Entertainment developed “The Window,” and will make it with Belgium-based Velvet Films.
