Isabel (Michelle Williams) has dedicated her life to working with the children in an orphanage in Calcutta. Theresa (Julianne Moore) is the multimillionaire head of a media company who lives with her artist husband (Billy Crudup) and their twin boys in New York. When word comes to Isabel of a mysterious and generous grant for the financially struggling orphanage, she must travel to New York to meet the benefactor -- Theresa -- in person.

      This is a remake of the original 2006 film, After the Wedding (2006), starring Mads Mikkelsen (Hannibal, The Hunt, and Dr. Strange), Sidse Babett Knudsen (Westworld and Borgen) and Rolf Lassgård (Downsizing and A Man Called Ove). The original was directed by Susanne Bier (Bird Box and The Night Manager). The original was set in Copenhagen, while the remake is set in New York. In addition the remake has swapped the genders of the three leading characters.

    A melodrama with so many clichés

    I didn't know this was a remake of a Danish film. Now I understand why so many things seem shallow. None of the film crew internalize the story, hence could not make the audience believe. My five points are for the sake of good acting of Julianne Moore and nice photography. The film was really boring.
