Featured review
Having been a hard-core MasterChef Australia fan , watched few episodes of MasterChef India S7 in the beginning but stopped viewing as it did not live upto the expectations ( maybe it was a bit unfair to compare it with the Australian version) in terms of overall presentation & the quality of judging that was bordering more on negativity than motivating the contestants most of the time. Too much over verbal publicity of the sponsors every now & then by judges & contestants is quite an annoying part. Why do you need it when the brand labels are visually projected on the screen most of the duration of the show time! Compare this to Australia version and you will know the difference in quality of content . Contestants lacked the skills one would have expected from a MasterChef contest- for example, basic use of a grill , baking essentials were new to some , use of pizza oven in the team event was a disaster & one felt sad for the contestants. Although the team events were quite enjoyable to watch. Ranveer' s judging has been good towards the last few episodes with proper tasting and feedback given , Vikas is also professional in his judging but most annoying is Garima- she doesn't taste but "pinches" the food & arrives at a conclusion which she cannot do during the finale especially when cooking of top finalists are at stake- c'mon have a heart for the effort these contestants have put in!! Format is not consistent - for example in thali event, dabbawalas voted but vote count was not shown in the end ! Another unacceptable part is contestant Aruna who does not cook non- vegetarian- how was she selected in this contest? A good cook may be a vegan but has to know how to cook both veg and non- veg cuisines at a contest level. Nayanjyoti & Suvarna show a lot of promise and Gurkirat has shown great determination in some of the episodes. This show is watchable but NOT a patch close to the MasterChef Australia in all areas( judges, contestants, presentation)
