Incorporating BAFTA Craft noms, which run concurrently with the TV Awards, HBO Max co-production It’s a Sin picked up 11, including for Mini-Series, Writer (Davies), five actors and in the Virgin Must-See Moment for Colin’s diagnosis.

The Royal Television Society Program Awards 2022 started with a slap on Wednesday evening, when nominee Aj Odudu ran up to the stage and pretended to strike host Tom Allen.
“Oh my God, Aj, oh my God – I’m the one who’s lost their hair, don’t hit me,” Allen, who is bald, quipped in the evidently pre-rehearsed skit. “I never put my wife anywhere near your mouth.”
Continuing the reference to the altercation between Will Smith and Chris Rock, which took place at the Oscars on Sunday night, Allen continued: “I’ve got to look my best for tomorrow, I’ve got an audition for ‘G.I. Jane 2.'”
Watching from the audience at the Jw Marriott Grosvenor House in Mayfair, where the awards were taking place, were a bevy of well-known faces including “The Batman” star Andy Serkis, “Supergirl’s” David Harewood and “Succession” actor Matthew Macfadyen. Director Tony Stone digs into the depths of the mind of the infamous American Unabomber Ted Kaczynski with Ted K. A fly on the wall look at what made such a brilliant mind embark on a hermit lifestyle and a 17-year campaign of mail bombing terror which killed three people and injured many more.
By no means does Stone glorify this man’s heinous crimes but you can’t help but feel some kind of empathy with the man, who today could well be seen as some kind of eco-terrorist with a sensitive aversion to the slightest loud noise. Filled with hate for those who embark on destroying the forests around him and the waters he fishes in, and the snowboarders causing a raucous on his land fuels Ted (Sharlto Copley) in his righteous campaign of revenge.
Once a college professor and mathematician, Ted upended his life to get away...

Fancy playing Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas for free on PC? You just need to download the Rockstar Games Launcher!
Rockstar Games has revealed its own launcher software for Windows PC. It's called, somewhat unimaginatively, the Rockstar Games Launcher. To encourage people to download the new launcher, Rockstar is throwing in a free download of Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas to everyone who installs it. This offer will run for a limited time, but we don't yet know exactly when it will end.
Of course, for years, Steam was pretty much the go-to launcher for most PC gamers. The arrival of the Epic Games Store in December 2018 gave Steam a proper new rival, though, with the team at Epic offering developers and publishers a greater cut of their games' sales to make its new platform more appealing. Because of this, it has become quite common for a...

Grand Theft Auto developer Rockstar Games has come under fire yet again for its questionable business practices.
Earlier this year, the studio and its various divisions courted controversy following accusations from current and former employees of a so-called office ‘crunch culture.’ Those testimonies largely dealt with the prolonged development of Red Dead Redemption 2 and ultimately prompted a rise in awareness of working conditions for those in the games industry.
That issue has since been swept under the rug, it seems, but now Rockstar is facing perhaps an even bigger PR nightmare. As per a report released by think tank group TaxWatch UK, Rockstar North – the Scotland-based studio responsible for Grand Theft Auto and Manhunt – hasn’t paid a single penny of corporation tax for over a decade. A startling revelation in itself, no doubt, but bear with us here – the rabbit hole goes much, much deeper.

Cosmo Genovese, whose career as a TV and film script supervisor spanned 45 years and included Perry Mason, The A-Team and two Star Trek series, died Tuesday. He was 95.

He went on to work on a trio of features before becoming script supervisor for Perry Mason, the popular CBS legal drama starring Raymond Burr.

Exclusive: AMC Networks, whose streaming past was marked by Netflix deals that helped build cornerstone shows like Breaking Bad, has been charting its streaming future with four increasingly viable direct-to-consumer streaming services.
None of the outlets is a mass-audience juggernaut, but that’s never been the plan. As a portfolio they have grown steadily and offer the company more options for how to connect with consumers, some of whom are cutting and shaving the cord. Executives tell Deadline the four services combined will have north of 2 million subscribers by the end of 2019 and are on track to achieve profitability by the end of 2020. That’s a meaningful development for a company navigating a dramatically transforming pay-tv ecosystem.
“We’ve been moving increasingly into direct-to-consumer streaming. But we see our businesses as complementary with the major streaming services and not as a replacement for them,” COO Ed Carroll told Deadline in an interview.

The UK iteration of BritBox, the Svod service run by ITV and the BBC, is set to launch in the second half of 2019.
ITV CEO Carolyn McCall said the digital platform was “on track” to make its launch by the end of the year. This comes as the commercial British broadcaster faces a number of advertising challenges. Total advertisting was down 7% across the first quarter of the year with broadcast and online revenue also down 7% to £489M (Us$637M) in the period.
McCall noted that total advertising was also expected to be down 6% over the first half of 2019 as ITV is impacted by the “continuing economic and political uncertainty and its effect on the demand for advertising” and the absence of a major football tournament in the summer.
One bright spot was the continued performance of ITV Studios, the production company that makes shows including Love Island and Bodyguard, which saw revenue up 1% to £385M.

Cannes — The 2nd Canneseries festival ended Wednesday. Variety asks what this year’s second edition says about the current state of high-end drama series production.
1.Comedy Ruled, And Won
The 2nd Canneseries had no competition title with the profile of “Killing Eve,” its standout last year. A world premiere screened out of competition as the last series in the whole festival, where it met with some thunderous applause, “Years & Years,” a BBC-Canal Plus-HBO production showrun by U.K. industry heavyweight Russell T. Davies, does have that stature, and the potential to be one of the major drama series of 2019.
The Canneseries Competition ran a wide gamut – from genre (“Outbreak”) to drama (“Bauhaus”), drama-thrillers (“The Twelve”), near future low-fi (“The Feed”), dramedies and comedies, Canneseries artistic director Albin Levi pointed out.
As far as its competition goes, the festival’s major achievement this year was its bet on...

“Candyman” director Bernard Rose has helmed a new Japanese film, “Samurai Marathon,” which HanWay Films will introduce to buyers in Berlin. The picture has an original score by Philip Glass and is produced by HanWay’s Jeremy Thomas.
Thomas has a pedigree in Japanese cinema, making films including “13 Assassins” and “Hara-Kiri.” He has again teamed with Toshiaki Nakazawa, who produced the Academy Award-winning “Departures,” on “Samurai Marathon.”
Having an English director on the Japanese-language project is an unusual twist for a samurai movie. Thomas told Variety that Rose gives a subtly adjusted take on the genre but remains true to the form.
“I suggested why don’t we try and make a samurai film with an English director, or one not so entrenched in the tradition of samurai, which is a very traditional form of Japanese cinema,” Thomas said, adding that Rose “was fascinated by the challenge.”

British crime drama Manhunt, starring Doc Martin’s Martin Clunes, has become ITV’s highest rated new drama since the launch of Broadchurch in 2013. Is it this year’s Bodyguard?
The drama, which is produced by Buffalo Pictures and written by Ed Whitmore (Silent Witness), averaged 8.7M viewers across its three episodes, according to ITV, rising to 9M when online viewing was included. Growing from an overnight average of 6M, the catch up figures mean the show has become the most watched program of 2019 so far.
To put that into context, Bodyguard, the smash hit of 2018, opened with 6.7M live viewers with the first episode adding over 3M viewers to 10.4M after on-demand and catch-up viewers were added, making it the biggest new drama launch in the UK in ten years.
