- Quotes
Randi: [Randi, Elliott, Timothy are crossing the log bridge at the waterfall] Hey! Guys! Wait... up! Whoa!
Elliott: [Randi slips] Shh! Be quiet stupid! If the Elder finds us here, we're done for!
Timothy: Yeah, we're not supposed to be here. Everyone in the village knows about the ghost...
Elliott: You really believe that old fib? The grownups just say there's a ghost to scare us away! But I did hear Grandma say she saw something shiny by the falls when she was little.
Timothy: Maybe it's treasure! Let's go find it!
Randi: Help! I'm gonna fall! Aaahhh!
[Randi slips off the log and hangs on for dear life before falling down the waterfall and the 2 boys runs off]
Randi: [after Randi gets up from the water] Whoa! Ouch! There's no way back up. Now what am I gonna do?

The original was in my top 5 games of all time. I knew that this remake received a lot of criticism when it released. But as it was half price on the PS Store, I wanted to give it a go.
It doesn't have the same charm as the original, and it does come across as quite lazy in places.
Amongst other issues, the biggest gripe for me was the characters lips not moving when they talk.. Something as simple as this to implement would have made a huge difference for me.
Also, some animations were cut for some reason, e.g. The cannon travel animation of you flying across the map...
But all that said; it's still fun to play. And here are a lot of quality of life changes that make this game more playable than the original..
The three main ones being;
Being able to hold up to 12 items rather than only 4 is a huge benefit.
Being able to run on ahead, even if one of the other party members being stuck behind something.
Being able to hotkey spells to L1 and R1 meaning that the arduous spell levelling up process is much faster.
To summarise; it's not as bad as some will make out. It was fun to play. But I'd be happier getting it on offer, rather than paying full price for it.
As whilst it's OK, it is a very lazy remake of something that could have been done so much better with a little bit more love and care put into it.
