This film created a great controversy for mocking Indian government's digital India scheme as well as recent GST tax. A hashtag #MersalvsModi started trending in social media.

There is inconsistency regarding Vetri's year of birth throughout the movie. As per Maaran it is 1984, as per Daniel it is 1987 and as per Salim Ghosh it is 1990.

The title card of the film is shown after the opening scenes.

In the Indian version, the shot in which an arm of a villain is severed during a fight shows the gory part blurred while in the international version the scene is shown without any blurring. Similarly, the Indian version shows a crystal ball-like object in the restaurant fight while the international version shows a dove instead. There are also some changes in background music in certain sequences. The scenes showing animals have been deleted and replaced with other visuals in the Indian version while they exist uncut in the international version. Plus, the director's title card in the Indian version is shown against a black background while the international version shows it against a glowing background. Also, the Indian version has a quotation in Tamil and English stating "Every individual in their assumed specific responsibilities has to discharge his/her duty properly" which doesn't exist in the international version. The rolling titles appear in the center in the Indian version while they appear on the right in the International version in which the music ends much later.
