I gotta say I thought this movie hit the right spots even if it's unlike anything I usually see.
I mostly seek substantive work.
I do not watch Hallmark, lifetime channels and find manipulative melodrama offensive.
But for me, somehow this is elevated above that. Surprised me some! Sure they gloss over some very difficult ideas but I think they had to... it's not that kind of a movie (I should know, that's often my palette).
Specifically, I've read enough reviews critiquing the landmines they must navigate given the nature of subject matter and feel that's somewhat unfair as one can't win no matter how they depict the mentally challenged, no matter how serious it is or to what extent.
Let's be fair, I'm certain there are as many varied stories as there are people, so it's rational to depict whatever one you responsibly tackle.
It's far too PC to rip everything apart these days. Sure gets old!
I really thought the daughter was an exceptional actress and yes, I found the parents both believable.
Yes, heartbreaking...at times, frightening, frustrating, and in turn, simply loving. Certainly made me cry. That's not easy.
Most of all, the overall message-- yes there's more than one, but this vital one stands out --is to strive to live your best life; try to persevere.
True enough, we're all dealt the cards we're dealt, so play your hand the best you're able. Life can & will call on your ability to deal with obstacles.
Sooner... like here...or, later.
But hey maybe keep hot ,rich boyfriend around, he's a keeper!
I thought overall this isn't a story to pass on, not with the garbage out there audience's rush out to see!!
So go ahead, might surprise you too!
