There are few talent-representative partnerships in Hollywood that have lasted a career. CSI creator Anthony Zuiker had that with manager Margaret Riley, most recently a partner at Lighthouse Entertainment, who died Tuesday of ovarian cancer at age 58.
In 1998, Zuiker was working as a tram driver in his native Las Vegas while trying unsuccessfully to make it as a screenwriter with a movie script he had written, The Runner. Producer Jim Garavente slipped it to Riley, who had recently been promoted from assistant to manager at management/production company Addis Wechsler, and she signed Zuiker on his 30th birthday, 8/17/1998.
Riley then took Zuiker to all Hollywood agencies. He ended up at CAA (where he still is a client) with Joe Cohen and Scott Greenberg. Riley also introduced him to Kevin Yorn, who repped him for free for an year until he got his footing.

Director Jacqueline Castel and screenwriter Jae Matthews (The Runner) give a new spin on the werewolf mythos with My Animal (read my review here).
The feature debut by Castel, which made its world premiere at the Sundance Film Festival, sees a teen outcast connect with and fall for a town newcomer, igniting a personal transformation. My Animal stars Bobbi Salvör Menuez, Amandla Stenberg, Stephen Mchattie, Heidi Von Palleske, Cory Lipman, and Joe Apollonio.
Bloody Disgusting spoke with Castel about her debut, the werewolf metaphor, and the symbolism behind her use of the color red.
Castel breaks down what attracted her to Matthews’ script and its approach to the werewolf metaphor, both as Otherness and Heather’s (Salvör Menuez) sexual discovery.
“I’m connected to outsider stories,” Castle explains. “I’m interested in telling outsider stories and stories that exist on the fringes of society. That was something that attracted me...

The Runner follows a troubled teenager, Aiden, who the law enforcement enlists to go undercover to take down a drug king pin.
Edouard Philipponnat, who plays Aiden, recently sat down with uInterview founder Erik Meers to discuss what it was like working with Cameron Douglas, the son acting icon Michael Douglas.
“I love him! He’s my older brother, he’s incredible,” Philipponnat enthused. “I think the first day was his birthday, too, so it was just a really lovely feeling to it. We did some rehearsal where we went all out, especially that scene by the car outside, we did all of that pretty much realistic and everything. I don’t speak on his behalf, but he knew this world a lot and even these places we were shooting, he was familiar some of them.”

Chicago – When it comes to the passion of filmmaker Michelle Danner, there are no limits. She has five feature credits as director, a film in post production, two more in pre-production, and, oh yes, she’s an L.A. acting instructor and producer/actor. “The Runner” is her latest, and opens in theaters on August 19th, 2022.
Privileged teenager Aiden (Edouard Philipponnat) is working to get his life back on track. His lucrative side hustle dealing drugs to his classmates and his own personal addiction has forced his distraught mother (Elizabeth Röhm) to turn him over to the police. But if he acts as a confidential informant and sets up a major drug kingpin (Eric Balfour), the cops promise to reward his cooperation. As the sting operation begins to fall apart, it threatens Aiden’s deal and his very survival.

Above: 2021 UK quad poster for 4K restoration of The 400 Blows. Design by The Posterhouse.50,000 Movie Poster of the Day fans can’t be wrong. Yes, just this week my Movie Poster of the Day Instagram—a feed that was a spin-off from this column—surpassed 50,000 followers, which is a little ways off Cristiano Ronaldo’s 411 million and still a tenth of the half a million that Movie Poster of the Day used to have on Tumblr, though I never quite believed those numbers. But I put a lot of faith in my Movie Poster of the Day followers and so every six months I like to collect and rank the most “liked” posters that I have posted in the previous 26 weeks as some sort of bellwether of popular taste. The 400 Blows poster above racked up 3,168 likes earlier this year, making it the third most-liked poster I’ve ever posted (for...

As The Seed opens Heather, Diedre and Charlotte arrive at an opulent vacation home in the middle of what is supposed to be the Mojave Desert, (the film was shot in Malta).
There’s going to be a once-in-a-lifetime meteor shower, (where have we heard that before?), and social media personalities Heather and Dierdre think this will be the perfect location for a photoshoot incorporating it. Charlotte who has no social media presence at all just wants to hang out and party with her friends from school. Things become complicated when something falls from the sky and lands in their pool. Not a meteorite, but something alive.
Saying the leads are unlikable would be an understatement. Heather is the kind of famous for being born rich celebrity that makes it...
