Of course I had never heard about the 2017 TV movie thriller titled "Stalker's Prey" prior to sitting down to watch it here in 2024. And with it being a movie that I hadn't already seen, of course I found the time to give the movie a fair chance.
Writer John Doolan put together a rather generic and bland script. It was as if the writer just went by the How-To-Write-A-Thriller-For-Dummies book and crammed in every generic thriller trope he could find. I mean, the whole build up of the events were somewhat laughable. But hey, there are worse movies out there.
I wasn't familiar with the cast ensemble in the movie. And that was actually one of the better things about "Stalker's Prey", as I do enjoy watching new and unfamiliar talents on the screen in movies. And I will say that the acting performances in the movie were fair, despite the fact that the actors and actresses had some very generic material to work with.
There are far better thrillers out there, no doubt about it. But I will say that director Colin Theys's 2017 TV movie "Stalker's Prey" might be worth checking out if you are a sucker for thrillers where the story revolves around a deranged person acting out of ill-conceived affection and obsession.
While I did manage to sit through the entire movie, I was only mildly entertained. And I can honestly say that I am not returning to watch the movie a second time.
My rating of "Stalker's Prey" lands on a four out of ten stars.
