Disney+ has officially given a 12-episode series order to its “Turner & Hooch” series, which is now set to star “Drake & Josh” star Josh Peck.
The series is based on the 1989 film of the same name, which starred Tom Hanks.
The project, which comes from “Burn Notice” creator Matt Nix and 20th Century Fox TV — where Nix has an overall deal — was put into development in December. It will be a television adaptation of the original 1980s-era buddy cop movie.

Gabrielle Union is set to star in Screen Gems’ currently untitled romantic comedy which centers around a relationship between a newly single African-American woman and a recently divorced Asian-American man. Screen Gems acquired the spec written by Chester Tam with Union attached. The project is based on his real-life romantic account. Tam wrote, directed and starred in Take The 10 for Netflix.
Union will produce the rom-com partner with Holly Shakoor-Fleischer under their I’ll Have Another label along with Tam and Trevor Engelson of Underground.
Scott Strauss and Jolene Rodriguez will oversee the project on behalf of Screen Gems.

Have you ever wondered what fake drugs and alcohol seen in movies are made of? Prop experts Jeff Butcher (“The Wrestler”) and Eric Cheripka (“American Gangster”) have revealed some tricks of the trade via Refinery29.
For cocaine, Butcher usually uses inositol, a vitamin found in plants and animals that is commonly used to cut the real drug. “It’ll give you a slight energy lift because it’s a Vitamin B,” he said. The vitamin gives people such a strong lift that, according to Butcher, while filming “The Wrestler,” Mickey Rourke asked him, “Are you sure there’s nothing in this, I feel like I’m getting a lift?”
