Ji.hlava Documentary Film Festival has revealed to Variety the projects that the participants of its 2024 Emerging Producers program are working on. The producers were asked to deliver an elevator pitch for their projects.

Every year since 2010, the festival has selected 18 up-and-coming producers of documentary films (17 European and one representing a non-European guest country), who are then provided with educational, networking and promotional support.

The Emerging Producers portal features a map with more than 200 profiles of the program’s alumni.

The next cohort of Emerging Producers will be revealed at the Sarajevo Film Festival on Sunday.

Here are the pitches from the 2024 contingent:

For The Tortured Poet’s Department: The Anthology track’s “The Albatross,” Swift took to her acoustic guitar and mixed the song with Reputation’s “Dancing With Our Hands Tied,” as fan footage shared on social media highlighted.

The rapper made the announcement today on ABC’s Good Morning America. “Oh, we’re having the tour this year,” she said today. “The Hot Girl Summer Tour is gonna be 2024 summer time. I feel like I’ve never been able to be outside during my early days during the summer since 2019, so this is gonna be the first time that I drop an album on time for the summer. I do want to give the Hotties the Megan Thee Stallion experience.”

Although tour dates have not been announced, Megan has been confirmed for appearances in May at the Boston Calling and Bottlerock Napa Valley music festivals, and in June at Bonnaroo in Tennessee.

Taylor Swift has officially performed her final Eras Tour show of 2023 and she made a big announcement during the acoustic set.

The 33-year-old singer told fans at her Sao Paulo, Brazil show on Sunday (November 26) that she will be resetting her list of secret songs, aka surprise songs, for the 2024 shows.

During every show on the tour, Taylor performs two songs from her discography that are not on the regular set list. She told fans at the beginning of the tour that she will only repeat songs if she messed up the first time, or if they were from her first album Midnights.

Actress and activist Daryl Hannah is featured in a new hoax ad claiming that Mattel is creating a line of Barbies called MyCelia EcoWarrior Barbies, which are supposedly plastic-free.

Hannah is the face of this fake endorsement in a video released by her where she asserts that “by 2030 all Mattel toys will be plastic-free starting with the iconic Barbie doll.” She continued to claim that “Mattel will support a federal ban on all plastics in kid’s toys and on single-use plastics.”

The “limited edition EcoWarrior Barbies” would have featured “the real world heroes of the environmental struggle,” including Phoebe Plummer, Julia Butterfly Hill, Greta Thunberg, Nemonte Nenquimo and one even named after Hannah.

The dedication to this fake campaign is remarkable, as spoofed press releases from Mattel, fake phone numbers, and a false website were all created.

MidWest WeirdFest have announced the full program for 2023. The 7th annual film festival – a cinematic celebration of of all things fantastic, frightening, paranormal, and just plain weird – takes place March 3rd – 5th, 2025 at the Micon Downtown Cinema in Eau Claire, Wisconsin.

Trevor Noah called into question what he sees as the “suspicious” timing of Fox News hosts going on vacation after they make controversial statements on Tuesday’s “Daily Show.”

“That timing seems suspicious but who knows, maybe lots of people leave for fishing vacations on Wednesday nights at 9 p.m.,” he said, referencing Tucker Carlson’s announcement last week that he’d be taking time off from his show, which suddenly came after his comments calling white supremacy a “hoax” earned significant backlash.

A Fox News spokesperson told TheWrap that Carlson’s vacation was planned well in advance.

Continuing his victory lap in the post-Mueller Report era, President Donald Trump’s tweetstorm today repeated what’s been a days-long message to his Twitter followers: There was no collusion and no obstruction.

Now that the “witch hunt” is over – with some “pretty amazing” conclusions – the Commander-in-Tweet can’t seem to let it go. Perhaps it’s pushback against the rest of the media, who are still pulling at threads in the report, and an attempt to reinforce the concept that it’s time to move on.

One other note in the Saturday tweetstorm so far: the economy is “doing Great,” with jobless claims at a 50-year low. If true, that’s news that both sides of the aisle can be happy about.

Chicago mayor Rahm Emanuel took aim at President Trump over what he said was the “toxic environment” the billionaire has created, adding that it played a role in the Jussie Smollett hate crime “hoax.”

“Look, I’ve always said from day one, this is a Trump-free zone, the city of Chicago, and I mean it,” Emanuel said during a press conference on Thursday. “Let me be really clear about something: The only reason Jussie Smollett thought he could take advantage of a hoax about a hate crime is for the environment, the toxic environment that Donald Trump created.”

Emanuel said the the “moral equivalency” Trump drew between promoters and opponents of “bigotry” was unacceptable, calling out Trump’s declaration last April that there were good people “on both sides” of the violence in Charlottesville, Virginia, which left one person dead.
