I found this to be historically interesting. Lucy and Desi alternately played their characters and themselves. They were so professional that you cannot tell that they were just months away from their divorce and Lucy's remarriage to Gary Morton. They mentioned that I Love Lucy was getting 50 million viewers per episode with less than half of the current population. No programming today gets that many viewers. Lucy and Desi appealed to everyone. The show they put on for the public was obviously not who they were. I think Lucille Ball was not subservient to Desi. She helped make him successful and was the driver of the ship.
