Dan Fogelman is adding another Hulu series to his portfolio, this one set in the high-stakes world in the NFL.
Hulu has given a series pickup to the untitled project, which is from 20th Television and Skydance Sports. Details are sparse, though it is said to involve a generational family dynamic, in addition to its setting in the NFL.
Skydance Sports, it is worth noting, is a joint venture between David Ellison’s Skydance and the NFL. The league is notoriously careful about its brand, but told The Hollywood Reporter last year that it wants to develop more scripted fare via the Skydance Jv.
Fogelman is serving as writer and executive producer alongside Jess Rosenthal with David Ellison, Jesse Sisgold, and Jason T. Reed serving as EPs for Skydance Sports.

Dan Fogelman is expanding his footprint on Hulu with a third series. The streamer has handed a series order to an hourlong project written and executive produced by the This Is Us creator.
Like was the case with Fogelman’s previous creation for Hulu, a series starring This Is Us’ Sterling K. Brown that eventually was named Paradise, the new project does not have a title or official premise. It is believed to be a sprawling drama set inside the world of the NFL with a generational family component.
After Hulu’s murder mystery comedy Only Murders In the Building, which he executive produces, and the upcoming thriller Paradise, which he created and executive produces, Fogelman is returning to the multi-generational family drama genre that was at the heart of This Is Us. We've all been there before.
You fall in love with a show. You fall in love with the characters. You fall in love with a Universe. And then, suddenly, without warning, your favorite show is canceled, and you feel a tremendous loss.
Television can be a comfort to many, and when you find that show or that perfect character that you connect with, it downright sucks to know you won't get to see them anymore.
Over the years, many shows have been cut short ahead of their time.
While others may have had a decent run, with years under their belt, the cancellation can still feel abrupt, especially when they don't get to end the series on their own terms.
We've seen fan campaigns change studios' minds and cancellations reversed at the last minute (S.W.A.T. says hi!), but unfortunately, most shows don't have that same luck.

Rebel Wilson’s breakout acting role was as part of the Pitch Perfect franchise as Fat Amy. When that is the role you really become known for, that tells you something about her physical appearance at the time, as well as how viewers remember her most, even all these years later.
Just like other actors such as Melissa McCarthy and Jonah Hill, when you’re carrying a few extra pounds in Hollywood, you’re automatically lumped into comic relief roles. The sidekick to the good-looking leads, the Zach Galifianakis to Bradley Cooper in The Hangover films.

Ben Platt will play a concert residency at the newly remodeled Palace Theatre on Broadway.
The three-week residency, which runs from May 28 through June 15, will feature selections from Platt’s upcoming album, Honeymind, as well as his prior two albums, Reverie and Sing to Me. Michael Arden, director of Parade on Broadway, which starred Platt, directs the residency.
This is the first announced event at the Palace Theatre since the Nederlander-owned Broadway house closed in 2018 for remodeling. The theater has been raised 30 feet in the air, to make space for retail on the ground and lower floors, as well as refurbished with a new lobby, marquee and backstage area. The next Broadway show to play the theater has not yet been announced; however, additional events may be announced in the coming months.
“It is far beyond my wildest imagination to play a residency of my own music in a house as storied as the Palace.

Vienna-based Autlook has boarded sales on the Danish docu project “Architecture as Invention” in which seasoned doc filmmaker Michael Madsen shares existential and creative conversations with U.S./Polish star architect Daniel Libeskind.
The IDFA Forum Pitch entry is Autlook Film Sales’ third Madsen doc pick-up after his multi-awarded “Into Eternity,” IDFA Green Screen Doc winner in 2010, and Sundance 2015 selected “The Visit.”
“Michael Madsen’s distinguished approach to themes and grand ideas creates films that endure; they are timeless and iconic, always speaking for humanity, much like the architecture of one of the greatest architects of our time, Daniel Libeskind,” said Autlook CEO Salma Abdalla.
A trained architect himself, Madsen has an intimate knowledge of the discipline, explored diversely in his earlier works “Into Eternity,” which delved into the construction of a nuclear waste bunker in Finland, and the 26-minute “Halden Prison,” part of the Wim Wenders-initiated “Cathedrals of Culture.

The latest feature from David Fincher, a big-budget drama series from Steven Knight and Shawn Levy, and an Oscar hopeful starring Annette Bening and Jodie Foster are among the standout new additions hitting Netflix in November.
With The Killer, Fincher reteams with Seven writer Andrew Kevin Walker to adapt the graphic novel written by Alexis Nolent. The film, which premiered at the Venice Film Festival this year and debuts on Netflix on Nov. 10, stars Michael Fassbender as a shadowy unnamed assassin and features a cast that includes Arliss Howard, Charles Parnell, Gabriel Polanco, Kerry O’Malley, Emiliano Pernía, Sala Baker, Sophie Charlotte and Tilda Swinton.
The Hollywood Reporter‘s review of The Killer described the film as “a satisfyingly retro, location-hopping genre exercise with fisticuffs, gadgets (albeit ones bought from Amazon) and smooth-talking antagonists that all plays like a tongue-in-cheek spoof of James Bond movies.”

Mark-Paul Gosselaar admitted at ’90s Con Tampa (via Entertainment Weekly) that he brought his work home with him in a negative way while filming the short-lived Fox drama series “Pitch.” The “Saved by the Bell” alum starred in the show as a veteran baseball player who butts heads with and befriends a young teammate who happens to be the first woman to play in the MLB. Gosselaar said after filming episodes he’d go home and his “really aggressive baseball player” would stay with him.
“That’s a role though, that I don’t make light of it, but I had to go therapy with my wife,” he revealed. “I’d come in through that front door and like my wife said in therapy sessions, ‘That’s not the guy I married.’ And you’re playing this guy and then the next day, you have to jump right into that.

It’s been six years since Fox canceled Pitch after one season, but Mark Paul Gosselaar can’t forget about how it almost made him want to give up on Hollywood.
During a Saved by the Bell panel at ’90s Con Tampa Sunday, Gosselaar recalled how he felt when Fox axed the Kylie Bunbury starrer that revolved around the first woman to play (and pitch!) for the majors.
“I wanted to quit the industry after that ended,” Gosselaar, who played catcher Mike Lawson in the drama from Dan Fogelman, Rick Singer and Kevin Falls. “That’s one of those, you feel like in your lifetime you’re not going to be handed opportunities like that, so for that to pass in the fashion that it did it was sort of a gut punch. That’s a role though, that I don’t make light of it, but I had to go therapy with my wife.

Ask a writer how they paid the bills before the Writers Guild of America went on strike, a work stoppage that Wednesday passed the 100-day mark, and the answers might vary from “developing a television show” to “finishing a feature rewrite.” These days, however, as the writers strike halts film and TV productions for fairer compensation, contracts and working conditions for its 11,000 plus members, even established writers are taking to Etsy to help pay the bills or teaching to keep storytelling skills sharp (and in so doing, ironically, they’re trying to help aspiring writers get a leg up in their careers). These four established writers — who are in complete support of the WGA — have each taken leaps as entrepreneurs, reshaping their skill sets into viable side hustle businesses, in light of the risk of no guaranteed income in the foreseeable future.

Mr. Vin Diesel has made a name for himself playing monotone bruisers; big guys who look like they want to smash your skull in if you get in your way. But he's also a family man when it comes to the "Fast and Furious" films. He's also been a talking tree, a sci-fi warrior, a mobster, a military grunt in a Steven Spielberg movie, and more. While Diesel seems solely committed to playing Dom in the "Furious" saga these days, we shouldn't forget about his other work, some of which is quite good (and others ... not).
To get to the bottom of what Diesel's best role is, we here at /Film asked our readers to weigh in. Then we compiled the results in a special, massive supercomputer. The results may actually surprise you. They kind of surprised me! So let's take a look at Vin Diesel's best roles, starting at the bottom.

AMC Networks Central Europe (Amcni Cne) and Oble Studios are set to co-produce a new revenge period drama set in Hungary titled “Fata Morgana.”

Vowing to get revenge, she takes on the identity of vigilante “Piperman” – blurring the lines between a feminist superhero and contemptable murderer.
Gabor Harmi has been confirmed as the showrunner on the series, which will see each episode utilize a distinct artistic approach to the story, while Zsofi Ruttkay, Gyorgy Palfi, and Gabor Papp are co-writers. Creative producers are...
