Although The Real Housewives of Atlanta was the first franchise to feature a predominantly Black cast, The Real Housewives of Potomac was the first to feature an entirely Black cast. Seasons 1-5 of Atlanta featured Kim Zolciak, who is Caucasian, as a main Housewife. Though Ashley Darby, Katie Rost, and Mia Thornton are all biracial, they are all half African American.
Although Jacqueline Laurita and Teresa Giudice from The Real Housewives of New Jersey (2009) were the first Housewives to be pregnant during a season of a Real Housewives franchise, Monique Samuels was the first Housewife to appear pregnant in the opening credits of a franchise. Samuels was expecting during season 4.
The cast members hold champagne flutes in the intro. This was previously used in the season 1 intro for The Real Housewives of Miami (2011) but was dropped the following season in favor of mojito glasses.
