"The A Word" is based on the 2010 Israeli TV Series "Pilpelim Tsehubim" (Yellow Peppers), created and written by Keren Margalit.
Christopher Eccleston and Vinette Robinson both also appeared on the series "Doctor Who" (2005). Eccleston was The Ninth Doctor for the first season of the rebooted show; Robinson starred in the 12th season as the famous American civil rights campaigner Rosa Parks.
In 2012 Morven Christie and Lucy Gaskell starred as co-narrators in the audio book of Elizabeth Wein's "Code Name Verity"
Pooky Quesnel and Lee Ingleby both appeared in the series "Inspector George Gently" (2007).
