Typical Lifetime movie, and a little better than some

A mother (Barbie Castro) begins to suspect her son&#39;s girlfriend may have killed him. I&#39;m a fan of Yancy Butler - from Witchblade. She makes an acting comeback here and has a supporting role as the sister of the woman. It&#39;s obvious from the title and the girlfriend&#39;s facial expressions she is the titular boyfriend killer and she lives up to her name. No subtlety here. The main thing is seeing how she gets caught. The ending is a little overkill but at least it isn&#39;t lame. How these guys could love her even for a few months isn&#39;t convincing. She is kind of unappealing even if she wasn&#39;t psycho.

Boyfriend Killer

There is an operatic dimension to &quot;Boyfriend Killer&quot; after the death of young Preston Durro, who is run off the road and murdered while traveling to a volleyball game on his motorcycle. There follows a series of grief stricken outpourings from his mother, Sandra Cruz Durro, her sister Carrie, and her ex-husband Charles. The bereavement is expressed with intense close-ups, protracted flurries of emotion, and endless tears. The anguish continues in the funeral for Preston in which there are testimonials and still more expression of grief. The funeral would definitely not be considered a celebration of life. At the funeral, when Krystal Kellers rises to give her testimonial to Preston, she shocks the gathering by informing the group that she and Preston were engaged. Of course, this is a lie, and the demented Krystal was actually responsible for Preston&#39;s death after he dumped her because he was unwilling to &quot;rough up&quot; Jack Davis and allow Krystal to steal $30,00 from her ex-boyfriend&#39;s safe. The best scene in the film is when Preston&#39;s alcoholic father Charles confronts Krystal after the funeral and carefully explains that his son never could have purchased the &quot;rock&quot; that she wears (actually, a ring stolen from the collection of her mother) because he was destitute at the time of their alleged engagement. It is in that scene that Krystal is exposed as a liar and a fraud. Later in the film, Krystal stabs her ex beau Jack and kills her father in cold blood. This film was a bummer because it really wasn&#39;t a thriller or even a domestic tragedy. It was replete with hyperbolic emotional exchanges and routine narrative development. Even a savvy female private eye, Marley Michaels, is trotted out towards the end to give some exposition on Krystal&#39;s troubled past. The only lively moments were at a local bar when the Charles falls off the wagon again, gets roaring drunk, and meets up with the frisky Rita. At least that scene afforded some relief from the ceaseless overtures of Greek tragedy and the lugubrious funeral oration of Krystal Kellers.

After &quot;Open Marriage&quot; Lifetime showed something called &quot;Boyfriend Killer,&quot; an ambiguous title because at first it wasn&#39;t clear whether it would be about a boyfriend who killed his girlfriend or a girlfriend who killed her boyfriend. It turned out to be the latter: it begins with a scene in which Preston Durro (Michael Uribe) is racing down a road on his motorcycle when he&#39;s chased and ultimately run off the road by a black SUV. Preston dies and the central characters are actually his parents, Sandra Cruz Durro (Barbie Castro) and her long-estranged husband Charles (Patrick Muldoon, surprisingly hot even though hardly at the league of the two young studs in &quot;Open Marriage&quot;!). The two broke up 10 years previously while Preston was still a boy, largely over Charles&#39; drinking problem and lack of ambition, but Charles agrees to stay behind and support Sandra over her grief at the loss of their son and also help her collect Preston&#39;s things. Only they have a major conflict with the boyfriend killer of the title, Krystal Kellers (Kate Mansi, playing the part in the same sort of perky-psycho vein as Rose McGowan did in the 1998 Lifetime movie &quot;Devil in the Flesh&quot; and Jodi Lynn O&#39;Keefe duplicated less effectively in the 2000 sequel), whom we first saw in the middle of a knock-down drag-out argument with her father, oil tycoon Nathan Kellers (Frank Licari). It seems Nathan never liked Preston as a mate for his daughter and had someone quite different in mind for her, Jack Davis (Eric Aragon), a rising young executive at his company, and now that Preston is the victim of an (apparent) accident Nathan thinks it&#39;s high time her daughter comes back to earth and marries Jack. There&#39;s nothing really wrong with Boyfriend Killer except we&#39;ve seen it a million times already; the screenwriter is Christine Conradt but this time she seems merely to be following her formulae instead of legitimately extending them the way she did in The Bride He Bought Online (which she directed as well as wrote), and the direction by Alyn Darnay is functional and O.K. but not really inspired. There&#39;s nothing really wrong with Boyfriend Killer but there&#39;s nothing really right about it, either; Kate Mansi does Perky Psycho 101 well enough, but really, we&#39;ve seen her likes hundreds of times before on this network, and neither Conradt nor Darnay threw in enough variations on the familiar formulae to get us to care this time.

Slow movie..and i didnt like the actings..
Plot is good but other than that is just boring.

Not a bad movie but very predictable. Funny thing is...the entire time I was watching it I couldn&#39;t help but think that Meghan Markle would have been perfect in this role.

Much appreciation to a talented cast for providing an entertaining suspense yarn. The plot is not all that different in nature nor intensity from a lot of other Lifetime movies, and this is certainly not a bad thing. I especially appreciate that the villain gets what she deserves at the end, and that it is not one of those installments which attempts the movie-ending black humor of setting her sights on new prey. This technique was used to disturb multiple other such movies which were otherwise very enjoyable. Keep up the good dramatic work. The intensity, twists, and surprises are entertaining pluses. Satisfying job.

This Krystal is something else. Coming from an extremely wealthy home, she seems to have it made except for one thing. She is a vindictive, emotionally distraught woman. When her boyfriend dies, she announces that she was living with him and that they were engaged. His mother begins to see a variety of cracks in her claim. The mother should be an expert at this since her ex-husband was an alcoholic and quite a character. Krystal is vicious, cunning and who knows what else? She killed her boyfriend who she had left to go with Preston, before arranging his demise. Look what she does to her own father when she is caught red-handed trying to kill Preston&#39;s mother. Naturally, mom and dad shall reunite. That is so common in these kind of stories. Veda, daughter of Mildred Pierce, move over. This gal has you beat.

Who is the man close to the end when she is trying to kill the woman(the mother) in the road that comes and helps her in the gray car before her father gets there, don&#39;t remember seeing him before

This is one of the more memorable lifetime movies I&#39;ve watched. The direction Ian so well done and the actors did such a great job of bringing it to life. The bad girl (Kate Mansi) was so realistic and believable the viewer could identify with her almost to the point of sympathy...almost. Very well made film!

This movie is another great hit by Barbie Castro the movie will be a fun watch the whole way through. It has some great exciting moments as well as perfectly placed drama. Concorde Films is producing some great thrillers and this is no exception, watch it you will love it. The movie also has a great cast with excellent chemistry the movie works well all around.
