Fans of the late NBC comedy Undateable have at least one thing to be thankful for this Thanksgiving: Netflix on Thursday dropped all eight episodes of the new Christmas-themed comedy Merry Happy Whatever, which reunites former castmates Bridgit Mendler and Brent Morin.
Once again, the actors are romantically paired. Mendler plays Emmy Quinn, an L.A.-based financial analyst who brings her boyfriend, struggling musician Matt (Morin), home to meet her tight-knit, Philadelphia-based brood. That includes her hard-to-impress dad, Bucks County sheriff Don (The Parent Trap‘s Dennis Quaid), who takes an immediate disliking to his youngest daughter’s significant other.

As Craig Mazin focused on the human drama of the meltdown at Chernobyl, so he alighted on one relationship that came together in the clean-up operation, which would speak volumes to the complications of the Soviet system and the efforts of those embroiled in its politics to work within it.
Boris Shcherbina was a vice-chairman of the Council of Ministers in the Soviet government, and Valery Legasov a member of the prestigious Academy of Sciences of the Ussr, who led the commission investigating the disaster. In Mazin’s telling, as they meet, they butt heads over the best way to respond. But the unlikely friendship that resulted as they uncovered the true scale of disaster is at the emotional core of Chernobyl.
“Actors know a good part when they read one,” says Jared Harris, who plays Legasov, of the scripts he was handed. “Everybody I knew in London was talking about it,...

Every Fast and Furious film is packed with fights, wicked-fast driving (of course), and a banger of a soundtrack you can't help but play on repeat - and the franchise's newest film, Hobbs & Shaw, is no exception.
The Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham spinoff is possibly the biggest entry in the franchise yet, with higher stakes (a world-ending supervirus!), more eye-popping stunts (lassoing a helicopter to a daisy chain of vehicles!), a bad guy with actual superpowers, and a protagonist that literally towers over nearly everyone in the film. The soundtrack - it might come as no surprise - is therefore also no exception to the bigger-is-better philosophy of the movie, and fuels the high-octane action with driving beats and pounding bass.
Featuring adrenaline-heavy tracks from Yungblud, Aloe Blacc, and Tha Movement, as well as an original song written and performed by star and DJ Idris Elba, the music running...

Craig Mazin’s five-part adaptation of the Chernobyl nuclear disaster in 1986 begins with Jared Harris’s Valery Legasov taking his own life. It is, says Harris, the inciting mystery in a story that will examine both the human cost of the event, and the social and political fallout. Freshly wrapped on HBO, the series became as much of a conversation starter as the cabler’s Game of Thrones finale, perhaps because of the show’s unsettling parallels with the disinformation age in which we live. For Harris, Mazin’s scripts were too enticing to refuse.
What are your memories of the Chernobyl disaster? You would have been in the U.K. at the time, right?
I lived in London and I remember news reports about the initial event, once it had been exposed by the West. A lot of anxiety about the nuclear radioactive cloud that was slowly making its way west,...

Twelve songs, nine sets, two musical theater-loving pals and a talk show visit: “Soundtrack To A Bromance” won’t be forgotten anytime soon by the superfans of Dear Evan Hansen‘s Ben Platt.
Platt, doing the publicity rounds for his recently released debut album Sing To Me Instead and the launch next month of his first North American tour, opened last night’s The Late Late Show With James Corden on CBS with a mini-musical of a dozen pop hits mashed into duets with Corden.
“Bromance” begins in middle school when the boys meet at a bus stop and break into The White Stripes’ “I Can Tell That We Are Gonna Be Friends.” From there they move – literally, as the duo works its way through nine specially-created studio sets while a camera trails every move – through the milestones of young friendship: high school,...

James Corden always manages to get by with a little help from his (famous) friends. This time around, the Late Late Show host was joined by Dear Evan Hansen‘s Ben Platt for “Soundtrack to a Bromance,” a five-minute musical comprised of 12 songs and nine sets — all shot in one take.
To save you the trouble of pausing and Googling — because, honestly, who has time for that? — here’s a rundown of the set list:
* “I Can Tell That We Are Gonna Be Friends” (The White Stripes)
* “Wouldn’t It Be Nice” (The Beach Boys)

Nick Jonas is joining the cast of STXfilms’ animated project “UglyDolls,” Stx announced Wednesday.
Jonas will voice act and perform an original song in the movie, which already stars Kelly Clarkson and Pitbull. The new animated family adventure, based on the toy brand, follows the different town of Uglyville, where Moxy and her UglyDoll friends confront what it means to be different.
“The UglyDolls remind audiences the importance of acceptance and loving yourself, and as someone who started in this business very young, I understand the significance of using my platform to tell stories that lift others up,” said Jonas. “I love that I get to work with Kelly Clarkson and Pitbull, and I can’t wait to get started.”

While I personally thought Justice League to be an entertaining action flick, there’s no way I’m going to say it was anywhere near perfect or the movie I thought my favorite characters deserved. Of course, there are probably many of you out there who were lukewarm as well; not being blown away, yet also not entirely displeased.
With that, the folks over at Screen Junkies are back to do what they usually do, and that’s put pretty much any film through the wringer, this time dropping elbow after elbow on the first live action movie to unite DC’s premier superhero team. And, as was expected, it was a slaughter.

Now that Justice League is available for consumption in digital format, the folks over at Warner Bros. are expectedly doing all they can to promote it. As such, newly cut trailers are finding their way online, each of which may be markedly different from those that accompanied the theatrical release.
As it turns out, the video package we’re discussing today may very well become ammunition for those hoping the elusive Zack Snyder cut will one day see the light of day. Titled “Bromance,” this particular promo has Joss Whedon’s fingerprints all over it, being chock full of footage that was recorded during his reshoots.
Sure, I may have liked how Batman was depicted for the most part in the film, but there were various occasions where he was given dialogue that was very much out of character – and this thing plays like a supercut of that.
