Due to his illness, Lubomír Lipský turned down the part of the old gardener, eventually played by Ladislav Mrkvicka.
The armor worn by Prince Karel, played by Krystof Hádek, during jousting was originally used in A Knight's Tale (2001), where it was worn by the Crown Prince, played by James Purefoy.
In the final duel, the second-born son Karel, played by Krystof Hádek, says: "I will finally get rid of you and I will become Charles IV." One year later, Hádek portrayed Charles IV in Hlas pro rímského krále (2016).
