I must say that these guys showed something which very few filmmakers dare to do in Kolkata nowadays. Dwitiyo Ripu is a psychological study about the relation between what is real and what is fictitious. Its like a game played with the audience. Each time you will be in dark what is coming next. Presented in a edgy suspense drama form this film is definitely not for popcorn audience. There is a overall psychedelic feel in the movie. The camera work and BGM of the film is outstanding. The climax is open ended. Few people may loose the track at first, but soon they will get engaged with the story. Didn't like the sound design and mixing. It could have been much better.
The first thing you notice about Dwitiyo Ripu is the strong narrative. The script is layered, intricate and well written but never crosses the limit of vagueness. The suspense builds gradually throughout the movie and the well made climax complements the same. It successfully keeps you on the edge of your seat and invokes that sense of curiosity in the audience. The story has elements which reflect the vulnerability and dreams of today's youth. Human emotions have been beautifully explored in the movie. It is recommended for those who are not looking for any loose entertainment but gets the high-factor out of an intellectually stimulating movie. What add on to this movie are the background music and the song at the end of the movie. It never comes as burden and adds on to the psychedelic nature of the movie. This movie has successfully kept out the traits of Indian commercial films but still manages to intrigue the audience with a journey of Human emotions.
