According to Swedish law, execution method for those convicted of witchcraft was breaking wheel for men and decapitation and burning for women. Atleast 50% of those convicted of witchcraft in Finland (part of Sweden at the time) were men.
The film title's literal English translation is 'Bride of the Fire': which is a far more accurate reflection of the story's development, as reference to 'Devil' is more or less a distractive irrelevancy to the based on true story.
Re-edited into a three part miniseries with a runtime of 44 minutes per episode, which are scheduled for 2021.
