First things First -
To be honest for people who haven't lived in Gurgaon might feel that this is what Gurgaon is .. hot headed, rowdy, instilling some sort of fear in you all the time .. well, this is where I am in a fix .. because Gurgaon is definitely this when you read or hear about it .. and Gurgaon is not that when you live and work in here.
The layman is busy earning the daily bread and is just unaffected from hooliganism and all ..
Now to the 2nd thing - The problem started when the farmers literally became rich overnight .. filthy rich by the way, not just casual rich .. The native of Haryana had always been worst when it came to things like girl child, honor caste systems and no remorse come what may, among 100 other things which are not good for a healthy society. With such notions give a person unattainable wealth .. this is what happens ..
Now to the movie :) well the movie in itself is alright .. I wouldn't call it gripping because somehow things were not stitched together really well .. there were moments where you feel that it wasn't necessary .. and those moments are highlights by the way .. The moments were merely added to show the lawlessness about Gurgaon and had nothing to do with the story line. Also, the eeriness was kinda forced .. you would know in the moment what is going to happen ..
So, Gurgaon as a movie might depict Gurgaon but only a smallish subset of Gurgaon which has little or nothing to do in the life of a layman. So .. it is unwise to say that Gurgaon is what Gurgaon is .. No .. it is about this particular story and how it is projected on screen. And when it comes to this .. I think the movie was alright .. and when it is streaming on netflix these days .. better see it than not. :)

Screenplay - 8.5/10 - Good use of time period and characters . However, the time jump in some scenes are confusing.
Storyline - 5/10 Unwanted characters and scenes like Sophie and the club scene, the govt official and the hunting scenes could have been totally avoided. So was the murder of elder brother of Pankaj Tripathi's character. Preeto calling her brother to pick her up despite knowing that he was behind the kidnapping looks unrealistic for a French educated modern girl.
Acting - 10/10.
Overall- Could have been a very good movie if the storyline could have been more tight and realistic.

A good script good direction tight screenplay best of the artist only Ragni (sasti tapsee pannu) was not upto the mark and title of the film must be different .
Keep up good work

Movie and acting is average. What was irritating was the haryanvi spoken, especially by main character Nikki Singh. Most of his dialogues are not understandable. Even the dialogues in script are so irritating because they added 'sai' after each line. Having said this, its not that all of them were bad, Yogi singha(Jonty) and Pankaj tripathi did a great job. But I believe if harvanvi actors are chosen for such roles it would be much better and much more realistic. Ex:- Jaideep ahlawat in Paatal lok. I believe there is a lot of talent in haryana that needs to be tapped.

The film looks at the darker underbelly lurking underneath the high rises and the riches of Gurgaon. I think the title alludes to the real estate boom and the clash of cultures in Gurgaon. A farmer turned real estate developer Kheri singh played by Pankaj Tripathi is not the role Pankaj Tripathi has been typecast into by commercial cinema and he does a fine job. Akshay Oberoi was a revelation. The movie is extremely well shot. The plot though interestingly dark seems never the focus of the director. Elder brother kidnapping an adopted younger sister is very very dark but it is more about the characters and their relationships, so the plot moves slowly. Not that I'm complaining.

With a masterful control over the craft, Gurgaon is like a python, slowly tightening its grip on you. What at first feels soft and slow, is soon vicelike. Rarely does one see such taut control over the craft and yet a depth of storytelling that involves every aspect of the life in a city, in talking for it and of it.
The film talks of the fertility of it, the creation power of the city, and how it was robbed, it talks about what is to befall man if man sees land as a commodity and nothing else. IT talks of the villagers caught in the crossfire, the women, the children, the loyalists, the frauds, the sell outs, everyone caught in the crossfire till all that's left behind is carcasses of people who once had a soul. Watched it twice, once in the theatre and once on netflix. Strongly recommend it.
The theme music, played in multiple instruments is beautiful and haunting, it's still playing in my ears hours after seeing the film. Visually stunning, unsurprising of the director since he's a cinematographer. But in being in such control of the film, he could have made a misstep visually, but no. It's spot on in depicting the land, the fog, the desolate eerie roads, the dread, the concrete jungle overtaking the real one. And so many beautiful metaphors interwoven in audio and visual into a a tale of deceit and disloyalty, of birth and death and a warning to us, of what is to come if change isn't brought about soon.

Gurgaon is a complex tale of a farmer turned land developer Kehri Singh. He has two sons and an adopted daughter whom he favors. This is a unhappy family and it's apparent right from the start. The dissatisfied elder son plots to kidnap the sister and things spiral out of hand.
This is as dark as anything I've ever seen in a film. This film is full of dark pasts, male egos and violence against women. The performances are great and the background score maintains a constant sense of dread throughout the film.

No story. Pathetic story line - every one just kills everyone, extremely slow. Great acting but really poor script. I would just make a short 15 minute documentary rather than 2 hour movie of every one just killing each other.
Watch it if you want to kill your time..don't waste time. I would rather switch off TV and watch it than watch this movie..

Director n cinematographer Shanker Raman's #Gurgaon, another low-budget film, is amazing. The North-Indian setting is real, dark, gloomy n disturbing. A father (Tripathy) wants to hand over his real-estate business to his educated n responsible beti (Khanna), but the nalayak beta (Oberoi) is dead against this move. He kidnaps her, to pay off his debts n what follows is both, interesting n intriguing. Good performances from the entire cast, makes this film memorable. The climax is hatke n clapworthy. Rating 4/5.
I watched the movie on Netflix. The movie is dull. The acting is dull. Specially the acting of Nikki. He always has the same expression on his face. There is a message but the focus is somehow drifted. For me, the movie can be skipped.

Despite a cliched storyline, director has picturised the story beautifully. . In a subtle way, it has also pointed out the issue of female infanticide. .

Utter waste of time. Lethargic acting from all cast including Tripathi. The guy who played Nikki got only one expression through out the movie.
Amazed by the work. Dark, noir, telling. An absolute gem in every department of film making. Watched it on Netflix today. This director can match Hollywood (or even Iranian gems) I believe. Still trembling minutes after the film is over.
This movie had a potential to be a good movie but it was ruined due to lazy writing.
The 1st half was brilliant and captivating but the 2nd half became equally disastrously.
The entire dialogues were in haryanvi so hindi speaking people cannot understand a single word without subtitles.

Slow and poignant and absorbing. Film making at its best. Beautiful plot and storyline. Top notch acting but the beauty of the movie lies in the direction and cinematography. The burden of being rich is explored along with social issues like female infanticide. Dark storyline which is unpredictable adds to the beauty. Pankaj Tripathi, Shalini Vatsa, Aamir Bashir, Akshay Oberai and Ashish Verma outstanding performances. Ragini Khanna does her bit as Preeto. I just want to congratulate the entire cast for creating this masterpiece. In the same league as a Black Friday or a Tumbbad which speaks volumes about the movie. Salute.
This is a very bad film. Pathetic acting. Pathetic direction. Such a lazy writing. Their main focus was only on creating an unusual atmosphere and they failed in that too. Can't understand why a filmmaker like Anurag Kashyap was recommending this film.

One of the dark and deep stories that dissect through black realities of Society. But we are at justice has been served in the end. At the moments during movie you would want to stop watching but if you finish watching you get your reward.

It had all the ingredients to become an intense thriller but poor Direction & disastrous Screenplay spoil the movie. Each Actor has given 1 expression thought the film. Climax.... worst I've seen in a long time.

Story is like hard to believe.
10/10 for explain the scenario and mentality of character.
acting not up to the mark.
boring because of slow flow.
dont feel like we should wait for climax.
The story had a great potential. Kudos to the director and the team who portrayed the stroy in such a beautiful screenplay. Yes there are some point where the team could have done it well. Like the character "Bhuvi". That was one of the strongest character in the whole movie but in the movie it was not justified. Likewise the character " Karla" Could have been much better. Overall the execution is good but we have seen these kind of stories are ruling over the market like burari case.
Again we have to appreciate the efforts of the actors also. All the main characters were pushing there boundaries and of course pankaj ji always rocks, Akshay oberoi was at his best.
So it's a very good movie which could be a great series.
