Unmatta is world class science fiction. Finally someone has put Indian movies on a world sci-fi stage. There are so many concepts and philosophical ideas used in movie that your mind will start spinning. At the same time it grabs your attention from first scene and you cannot even take your eye off to eat your popcorn till the end. It is basically based on premise that Telepathy exists in this world and then it dwells in psychological issues (sleep paralysis, Post Traumatic Amnesia, Parasomania suicide etc.) in telepathic world. Has fresh perspective on our own consciousness and collective consciousness (which of-course will be present in telepathic world!) .
Story and dialogues are excellent. Acting is good and considering all actors are new, they have really pulled it well. Fight choreography is really done well. It feels very real. Background score is done well. And song is really psychedelic !
It is fun ride and a must watch.

Indian cinema has never produced a true science fiction. We have always seen love stories or action movies in the disguise of sci fi. At the same time Indian audience loves Hollywood sci fi (matrix, avatar etc are hit in India). But, "Unmatta" is in different league altogether. It is one of the most brilliant science fictions I have seen recently.
Criminals are committing suicides in jails. Police is baffled. We go a year back and a troubled student of literature (Aditi), gang-raped in childhood and suffering from sleep paralysis and PTSD, joins a telepathic experiment with four science students. What follows is epic journey into subconscious of each participant. Who is killing criminals? Can Aditi remember her rapists, and can she take her revenge? What does revenge even mean in an already mirage world! To get all the answers, one must be very attentive (not to miss single dialogue) till the end. Even then, I had to see it again to understand it fully. "Unmatta" can very well be most complex movie ever produced in India.
Movie touches too many concepts in too little time (108 minutes!). Concept of dream being wish fulfilling entity, sleep paralysis, Post Traumatic Amnesia, PTSD, parasomnia suicide, free will and even parallel worlds or world being just a sensory input with its interpretation are beautifully handled. No wonder many critics failed to even recognize what was being shown and were quick to mark it yet another loud sounding horror movie (which it is, if science is ignored). Even then, its far better horror movie with lot of excellent action sequences. Such movie is rare gem. I hope it would have come from big budget production but then it would not have been so good isn't it?

It's one of the real fact which occurs in sleep called sleep paralysis shown in the way to understand by layman. Research work done by students and there ultimate fate is shown in truly amazing way. Ghost shown movie truly is hair raising and makes you shiver for a while.End is ultimate must go and watch.
