Watching Nora and Kevin essentially fall apart is difficult, at this point watching them come together has been such a big part of the narrative it's difficult to not pull for them to keep all that together. Kevin is turning into his father and Nora is terrified of losing her new family, to the point that she is willing to do absolutely anything. Honestly it's all a bit to the detriment to the character Nora, it somehow makes her seem weak. Though, that could be the point, in S1 she was absolutely fierce, nothing to lose, this season she is vulnerable and fearful.
Kevin Carroll (John Murphy) is a truly fantastic actor, the real standout from the new cast members, he has a great subtle intensity. A bit on the fence about Patti, Ann Dowd is a wonderful actress, obviously, and the desire to keep her on the cast is understandable. For whatever reason her character feels a bit forced and heavy handed. She is basically there for exposition, and as an antagonist, her narration is redundant.
Good episode, filled with setting up the plot.
