I begin this by stating that, as a consumer of entertainment I expect a given return for the amount I put in. By which, I don't expect much from low-budget films; however, we aught to lend our time to the amateur and aspiring directors and actors. Critique where necessary to help enhance their future performances should they take them on board.
Unfortunately, I cannot reclaim my almost 2 hours back and my criticism won't be as constructive.
This film was not made for entertainment purposes or to help unknown actors break into the limelight. This is an egotistical showreel of the lead actor, director, scriptwriter, world leader and astronaut.
Ignoring the very basic plot, which becomes largely irrelevant by the fact you are consistently distracted by moments where you just sit there like "...what?". What we have here is a prime example of what makes a good film, good. There is virtually no character development what so ever, the personalities don't particularly shine and I wouldn't necessarily put this down to sub standard acting, but more down to the script.
There are no real moments that make you feel the tension of the plot. The vampires don't feel convincing that they're menacing and that's crucial in any horror.
I won't touch on the ending music.
Unfortunately, this film is a cliché of the budget/amateur film making craze; we should be giving these types of films our time and money. However, this is not one of them.
