Love is in the air on Netflix, as two of the steamer’s most popular romance franchises dominated the English-language television charts for the week of May 15 to May 21.

Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story once again took the top spot with another 82.39M hours viewed in its third week on Netflix. The Bridgerton prequel series has now tallied nearly 390M viewing hours since it debuted on May 4, which means that it still stands a chance at becoming one of Netflix’s most popular series of all time. The series would need to surpass Inventing Anna‘s 511M viewing hours in the remaining 10 days of its 28-day measurement window in order to meet that milestone.

If it does, it will join both seasons of Bridgerton among Netflix’s most-watched series of all time. Each season drew more than 600M hours viewed in their first 28 days on the service.

The Producers Guild of America (PGA) has revealed the 14 participants for its 16th annual Power of Diversity Master Workshop.

The 14 producers selected for the annual workshop represent 10 projects in TV, film, unscripted and documentary. The eight-week workshop offers twice-weekly master classes on pitching, premise development, film finance, line producing, demystifying the writers’ room, agent & manager representation, distribution, deal-making and the world of virtual & augmented reality, headlined by some of the top producers & executives in the industry.

The participants were chosen from hundreds of applications reviewed by a PGA-member led selection committee. n addition to twice-weekly masterclasses, each project will be assigned two PGA member mentors who will provide in-depth feedback, make referrals and become champions for their projects to the industry.

“The impact of the coronavirus pandemic is profound and widespread. However, our industry is still a business built on relationships,” said Master Workshop Co-Chairs Sasheen Artis and Matt Johnson.

The first of the month is always a big day for streaming services, as that’s when the bulk of their new content for that month tends to hit, with the rest being dished out in small batches over the following weeks. That’s especially true for Netflix, who kicked off June with a massive helping of fresh movies and TV shows on the 1st, and followed it up with a handful of new releases in the days after.

It’s the first day of a new month, and do you know what that means? Yes, Netflix has got another batch of new content coming to its library. Today, the streaming giant has added a boat-load of classics and underrated films that you’ll want to check out. In particular, horror fans are being well-served as the selection includes a number of spine-tinglers and thrillers.

For those who like something with a psychological flavor, you’ll be pleased to know that two early 90s classics of the genre are dropping today – Martin Scorsese’s Cape Fear, featuring Robert De Niro, and The Silence of the Lambs, starring Sir Anthony Hopkins as Hannibal Lecter. Remember, the whole of the Hannibal TV series is also arriving on the service this month.

Those who prefer the supernatural have got some fresh movies to watch, too, including 2016’s The Boy – which stars The Walking Dead...

Though the past few days have been a bit slow when it comes to new content being added to Netflix, the streaming giant is back in full force today, kicking off June with a whopping 28 new movies and 1 new TV show. And there’s quite a few titles here that are worth your attention.

Indeed, the first few days of any new month are always big for the platform as that’s when the bulk of the content gets added, with a steady amount trickling down throughout the following weeks. Though the summer sun is starting to beat down, most of us are still being encouraged to stay indoors for Covid-19 related reasons. It’s not much fun, but at the very least, there’s an absolute ton of stuff landing in June that should distract you from the call of the beach.

Of particular note is the newly launched HBO Max, which is trying to catch the eye of potential subscribers with a red-hot first month. There’s an excellent selection of movies coming on June 1st, with horror titles like An American Werewolf in London (still the best werewolf movie ever made), Final Destinations 1-4, From Dusk til Dawn and Lifeforce.

As the summer begins to roll in it’s a time of endings for Netflix. No, Netflix isn’t going anywhere anytime soon obviously. The streamer continues to claim that its set up to churn out content through the rest of the year despite the coronavirus pandemic freeze on TV and movie production. Netflix’s new releases for June 2020, however, are highlighted by a couple of high profile finales.

13 Reasons Why premieres its fourth and final season on June 5. Before that, Fuller House is set to bow on June 2…though that franchise has been through the finale experience before so we’ll see about that. The Netflix original shows that are (presumably) in the middle of their run this month include Queer Eye (June 5), F is for Family, and The Politician (June 19).

If you’ve been on a Netflix binge-watching streak amid the novel coronavirus pandemic and are starting to feel worried about running out of things to stream, you’ll be glad to get a first look at the amazing line-up of TV shows and movies that the company is set to add to its library in June.

As if Netflix wasn’t already popular enough, they’ve stood to gain a lot of profit from the current outbreak of the Covid-19. With hundreds of millions of people around the globe self-isolating at home, it only makes sense that they’ve turned to streaming platforms to alleviate their boredom. Over the last couple of years, the likes of Amazon Prime, Hulu and HBO Now have upped the ante to seriously compete with Netflix, but if it’s variety you seek, then it’ll be quite a while before another service manages to dethrone the juggernaut.

“The Haunting of Hill House” alum Oliver Jackson-Cohen has joined “The Haunting of Bly Manor” in a leading role, TheWrap has learned exclusively.

Jackson-Cohen — who played Luke Crain on “Hill House” and is the second Season 1 star to join Season 2 of the Netflix horror anthology series, following Victoria Pedretti’s casting — will play Peter, described simply as “a charming fellow.”

Additional character details are being kept under wraps, but TheWrap has learned Jackson-Cohen’s character will, of course, interact with Pedretti’s, a governess named Dani “who takes care of two very unusual children.”

Oliver Jackson-Cohen, the star of “The Haunting of Hill House,” is attached for the lead role in “The Invisible Man” monster movie set up at Universal and Blumhouse, an individual with knowledge of the project tells TheWrap.

Jackson-Cohen will star alongside the previously announced Elisabeth Moss, Aldis Hodge, Harriet Dyer and Storm Reid in the horror reboot that is set to kick off production this month in Sydney, Australia.

Johnny Depp was previously attached to star as the lead in what was once meant to be Universal’s Dark Universe of films, a shared universe of movies that incorporated new takes on Old Hollywood monster characters, with movies announced based on both “The Wolf Man” and “Bride of Frankenstein.” That franchise kicked off with the Tom Cruise vehicle “The Mummy” that also starred Russell Crowe as Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde.

This year’s edition of the Marrakech Intl. Film Festival includes an unprecedented number of Moroccan films, including seven films in the new Morocco Panorama sidebar, and a tribute to local actor/director Jillali Ferhati.

When the festival was launched in 2001, Moroccan cinema was in a relatively fragile state and one of the fest’s key goals was to reinforce the local industry, which now seems to be paying dividends.

Over recent years, Moroccan cinema has enjoyed significant popular success at home and also rising international acclaim, as shown by the fact that several of the films playing in the Morocco Panorama have also screened at fests such as Berlin, Cannes and Venice.

Local filmmakers include both powerful male and female helmers, as reflected in the Morocco Panorama.

Festival to kick off with Julian Schnabel’s At Eternity’s Gate.

The Marrakech International Film Festival (Nov 30-Dec 8) has revealed its 2018 line-up, jury and honorary awards.

The Moroccan festival has been running since 2001, but took a year off in 2017 to “reflect on its editorial line”.

The competition line-up features 14 films from first or second-time directors. Six of the films competing for the Marrakech Etoile d’Or (or the Gold Star) are directed by women. Among the line-up is Sudabeh Mortezai’s Joy, Kent Jones’ Diane and Eva Trobisch’s All Good.

The Haunting of Hill House might just be one of the best things created in the horror genre that I’ve ever seen in both film and TV. It’s definitely one of my favorites and I think horror fans will love it.

I’m a big fan of Shirley Jackson’s classic 1959 horror novel that the Netflix series is based on and I’ve enjoyed the film adaptations that have been made over the years. But, this series took that story and created something incredible that I wasn’t expecting.

Not only was the series terrifying, but it was filled with so much heart and emotion. You get to really know the characters in this story and as the story plays out and you get to learn about them and what they went through. The series really makes you care for these characters and I loved the story that revolves around them.

I can’t wait to watch Netflix’s new horror series The Haunting of Hill House, which is based on the classic 1959 book by Shirley Jackson. That first trailer that was released completely sold me on the series, but today Netflix has a new featurette for us to watch that dives in the terrifying haunted house ghost story that the series will tell.
