It's got a pretty cool concept going for it even if it's not executed as well as it could've been.
The creature is unique in that it is more like a supernatural force for a majority of the film.
We get some interesting deaths scenes, the invasion of the castle is well orchestrated and full of nods to other classic stories.
It's still not the greatest thing ever but it's a fun time and has a lot of elements that make it worth checking out.
For a low-budget effort, however, it is well made, but i wish it would be better, with more horse fighting scenes and more dark lore to the inhabitant curse. 8/10.

With a cast comprised of screen veterans and relative newcomers, this movie brings sorcery, dark powers and true nobility will keep you on the edge of your seat from beginning to end. After a gripping prologue which establishes the legend of the inhabitant, we see our hero travel to dark land in search of the relic that the creature has in his powers killing some turks to get it.
These moments, however, lend a much-needed lightheartedness to a movie that keeps your heart pounding almost nonstop, and the caliber of the acting and directing keep it from going over the edge.
It's not the standard winter movie fare, perhaps, but it's definitely spellbinding.

I am huge fan for this kind of fantasy movies, either TV series and many other b movies, i was looking for more background for the characters but the story was fine, the effects was fair, not big budget movie effects but not the bad, I would give 8 as I can see this is a good movie, and we don´t see many movies like this anymore, wich is bad, because this genre has so much to give to the audience yet, this movie tries that, and mixes lots of creatures and power of the dark days so i was pleased with that.
The sets are good, the soundtrack is fine, with nice build up on suspense.
Like the narrator of the movie, has he estabilishes the lore for the curse.

Although it is far from being a classic, "The Strange Inhabitant" fares better than most with good performances from the two lead actors (Rui Constantino and Miguel D. Dias ).
The action is paced nicely throughout the story, keeping the tension levels and the viewer's interest high from start to finish.
The scenery is also used to excellent effect, helping to evoke the danger and despair of the period. The scenes set amongst the squalor of the villages helps to convey the desperate conditions that many people were living in.
On the downside, the special effects aren't very special, if you'll excuse the pun, and the dialogue occasionally borders on the cheesy but all in all, the film manages to succeed at delivering what the viewer wants, the fantasy of swords and sorcery, and ultimately the battle between good and evil.
For fans of the genre, this is a must see, for me a 10, i´m a sucker for these movies.

The movie's narrative is uncomplicated and relatively straight-forward: A knight called Joseph his sent on a holy mission by the bishop to return a stolen artifact, that belong to the templar order, but what he will find on his way is lots of turks and creatures, that work on their own evil doings, he and his fellow knights will be tested in faith and honour by the path they choose, the creature that hides in the shadows is very well done, pratical effects rule here.
I think the inhabitant is a very dark creature that needs to have more movies, it´s on the say path as the nun, the effects are a little cheesy, but they don´t hurt the movie, as the story itself gives the audience what they want.
As for me, i´ll give it an 8.

The movie gets really interesting around the midpoint. The first half of it prepares you for what´s coming, we get to know the characters and feel confortable with them, then the story begins to unfold and this is when the action starts.
The second half is much more intense paying off some story aspects.
This is an intriguing horror, the pulls us in, and never let´s go.
This is what I call a good movie, it´s fresh and new, and we get this feeling that the inhabitant is always present in Joseph´s journey to confront him.
There are creepy moments most of them without gore.
The direction is tight and the cast works well within the story.
The cinematography is also impressive.
So i´m ready for more, if there´s a sequel down the line.

Rui Constantino´s vision for this movie, allows him to create atmospheres that fully immerse you in his selected and unique dark twisted tale.
It would be impossible to talk about this film without acknowledging how well-budgeted it is. The ammount spent on the creation of the environment that truly feels set in the dark times, with sets and costumes that are tangible, it does not feel like a low budget independent production for a second.
I absolutely love films that have to do with biblical themes and ideas, whether literally as they do here, or metaphorically and thematically.
Great, tight, and unknown cast, everyone brought forth the necessary emotions that raised the tensions to a maximum by the end if it.
This is how it´s done an 8 for me.

The character of the inhabitant is one for the ages, i really like it at all, he doesn´t have much time on screen, but when he appears, he makes a terrifiying entrance that will haunt your dreams, he´s that creepy.
Now for the story, we got a templar knight on mission to retrieve an ancient object, that has a curse attached to it, the inhabitant, so in the wrong hands, the inhabitant awakes to kill all that touches it.
The templar knight travels from town to town searching for the object only to find a trail of blood left by the creature until the final showdown between them.
This movie is made on low budget, and we can see that, but the story pulls us in, and we are attracted to the path of the knight to retrieve it.
I´m giving this an 8 for the effort of the telling not only a good dark tale, but fill it with a real menacing creature.

" The Strange Inhabitant " in a word, unsettling.
Horror films don't normally have an effect on me, much less scare me, but this one was unnerving in a very palpable way. It's about a templar knight that has mission to retrieve a relic that was stolen from the templars but what he will find on his way, is even more horrible.
It creates this tense atmosphere and maintain it over nearly the entire length of the film.
The performances were also pitch perfect and very believable for the characters the actors played, the soundtrack was good, but it could have been better.
Ultimately, the film is rather ambiguous as to whether or not the events occur in the manner you see them, but that's the beauty of it.
7.7 for me.

This is one great movie, but it is not really a classical horror film with cheap thrills or jump scares. Rather, it is a much more serious exploration of all things related to an entity that protects a cursed object, in this case a medallion (the relic).
This is a work of love, for all the people involved in this movie and a product of years of very elaborate and tedious research into the historical context and origins of the concept, The stories about the legend of the inhabitant is the true horror, the truly scary thing about the whole thing.
The characters are very believable and so are their story arcs.
Highly recommended.

This film is excellent! The photography, the costumes, the sets, the actors, the fearsome soundtrack.
The mesmerizing voice of André Pedras as the narrator and the dialogues are irreproachable. The atmosphere is deeply dark, desperately cold.
I love the 'darkness' of this movie. It's unique and so much fun to watch it unravel in the climax.
Overall, the movie has a great vibe to it, watching a film like this makes you forget about the usual appeals of horror/thriller movies as you easily get sucked into the atmosphere of this movie even without much crazy and intense action you are feeling the rising tension between the knight templar and the inhabitant.
