The original idea, conceived by Fredrik Myrtell, was made into a trailer/pilot, shot in the region of Småland, Sweden, during the summer of 2010. The finished result was shown as a work in progress at Lund International Fantastic Film Festival in September that same year.
Post-trailer/pilot, screenwriter Måns F.G. Thunberg joined the project to develop and write the feature length screenplay, in close collaboration with the director Magnus Hedberg.
Producer Magnus Paulsson and Solid Entertainment came on board, alongside Erik Magnusson from Anagram Film. Both production companies are based in the southern parts of Sweden.
After an extensive research and location scouting process, the film went into production in September 2012. It was mostly shot on location in the wild, taking advantage of the untouched nature settings which plays a key role in the story.
Pick-ups and additional scenes were made throughout 2013. At about the same time, the editing process commenced.
An early teaser was screened as a work in progress at both Lund International Fantastic Film Festival, and the film festival Pixel in Ystad.
Color grading was done by Johan Eklund at Good Film & Post in Malmö, and the final sound mix by Olle Tannergård (fss), of FlirmFilm.
The premiere took place where it all started; at Lund International Fantastic Film Festival in September 2014.
