The Approval Matrix, the page that comes last in our magazine but first in our hearts, is now a television show that airs on Sundance. On Monday nights, host Neal Brennan and an ever-changing group of pop-culture luminaries divide the world into highbrow and lowbrow, brilliant and despicable. In this clip, comedian Hannibal Buress and others discuss who should pay for a date: men or women? As fans of his stand-up might expect, Buress has some common-sense theories. ...

Has technology turned us into the worst people ever?
Maybe "the worst" is a little extreme, but at the very least, "The Approval Matrix" host Neal Brennan thinks it's turned us into "self-important, self-promoting, solipsistic, selfie-takers." Wow, that's a mouthful.
I think I'll just tweet it.
Amy Poehler, special guest on the latest episode of "The Approval Matrix," thinks there are too many people with too many opinions. "All Twitter is now is people apologizing." And that's when Brennan admitted, "I can feel something bubbling up inside me. I'd like to apologize now."
You can catch the entire episode on "The Approval Matrix" Monday, September 8, at 11 p.m. Et/Pt on SundanceTV.

"The Approval Matrix" (sort of) answers the age-old question: who's cooler, Beyoncé or Jay-z?
Neal Brennan argues that even though Jay-z is "the picture of cool," he's not worthy of the title because he steps into the studio and just "goes off the top of his head," while Beyoncé works and grinds and just, well, "surfboardt."
But some of Brennan's guest panelists aren't so keen to agree with him. After all, Jay-z is one of the greatest rappers ever and is an equally savvy business man. In the great Hova's own words, "I'm not a business man/I'm a business, man."

It's the weekend, and you're looking forward to going to the movies, but you don't know which one you're going to see. Luckily for you, Neal Brennan, comedian and host of SundanceTV's "The Approval Matrix" (inspired by the New York magazine feature of the same name), is here to help alleviate your indecisive agony. Here, he evens the playing field and reviews the trailer for the sci-fi drama "The Congress," which stars Robin Wright as an aging, out-of work actress who accepts one last job -- creating a digital likeness for a future Hollywood. Ultimately, the consequences of her decision affect her in ways she didn't consider.
"The Congress" hits theaters August 29. "The Approval Matrix" airs Monday nights at 11 p.m. on SundanceTV.

The Approval Matrix, Sundance's new show inspired by the back-page New York feature that you read before anything else in the magazine, airs its fourth episode next Monday. The panel show, hosted by Neal Brennan, tosses together personalities from different corners of the pop-culture universe while also featuring interviews with stars like Chris Rock, Jon Stewart, and Amy Poehler. Here, the Parks and Recreation star cries oh-so fake tears over the difficulties of being a modern man.
