Forty-nine years after playing a major role in the Steven Spielberg classic Jaws (and fourteen years after making an appearance in Alexandre Aja’s Piranha 3D), Richard Dreyfuss has been cast in another film that promises to be packed with aquatic thrills, Vigilante Diaries director Christian Sesma’s Into the Deep. This one managed to get all the way into post-production before catching the attention of the folks at The Daily Jaws.

Scripted by Chad Law and Josh Ridgway – who have previously collaborated on the alligator movie The Flood, the Dolph Lundgren action thriller Section 8, the biker werewolf movie Howlers, and the mystery Miss Willoughby and the Haunted Bookshop – Into the Deep has the following synopsis: A group of divers searching for sunken treasure witness the murder of drug dealers by modern-day pirates, but a killer great white is determined not to let any of them escape its waters.

Rlje Films will release the action film, Section 8, on DVD and Blu-ray on November 15, 2022.

Written by Chad Law (Black Water)and Josh Ridgway (Howlers)and directed by Christian Sesma (Paydirt, Vigilante Diaries), the film stars Ryan Kwanten (“True Blood”), Dolph Lundgren (Rocky IV), Dermot Mulroney (My Best Friend’s Wedding), Scott Adkins (The Expendables 2)and Mickey Rourke (The Wrestler). Section 8 will be available on DVD for an Srp of 27.97 and on Blu-ray for an Srp of 28.96.

In Section 8, after avenging the murder of his wife and child, a former soldier (Ryan Kwanten) is sent to prison with a life sentence. He’s given a shot at freedom when a shadowy government agency recruits him for an off-the-books assignment. He soon realizes Section 8 isn’t what it seems.

Submissions for the best international feature film award at the 2021 Academy Awards have started to come in, and Screen is keeping a running list of each film below.

The 93rd Academy Awards is set to take place on April 25, 2021. It was originally set to be held on February 28, before both the ceremony and eligibility period were postponed for two months due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Submitted films must have been released in their respective countries between the expanded dates of October 1, 2019, and December 31, 2020. (Last year it was October-September.

Exclusive: The Goodbye Girl Oscar winner Richard Dreyfuss and 3x SAG ensemble winner Taryn Manning are joining the Mike Hatton action thriller production Every Last One of Them, which Green Book actor Hatton will also star in with Paul Sloan. Cameras are set to roll before the end of this year in Southern California adhering to Covid-19 safety protocols.

Christian Sesma is directing from a screenplay co-written with Chee Keong Cheung, Alistair Cave, Edward Thomas.

Hatton will produce under his Ton of Hats banner along with Michael Walker of 101 Films International, as well as Christian Sesma. EPs are Andy Lyon, Phil Hunt, Compton Ross, Tom Conigliaro, Kimberly Hines, Rick Morse, and Sheila Legette. 101 Films International, an Amcomri Media Group company will handle international sales.

Exclusive: Mickey Rourke, Taye Diggs and Jessica Uberuaga have join the horror thriller Mammon which Isaac Walsh will make his feature directorial debut with.

The movie, penned by Walsh and Tyler Clair Smith, follows a struggling young couple who are chasing the American dream, and soon realize that their worst nightmare is the demonic spirit in their new home. Mammon is the biblical word for the worship of wealth, and the couple discover that getting rich can come at a hefty price. The feature is in pre-production and will shoot in Southern California next month.

Mike Hatton is producing under his production company, Ton of Hats. Executive Producers are Glen D. Smith, Gary Smith, and Gary Smith Jr. of Mhi Investments, along with Kimberly Hines of Framework Entertainment, Michael Walker, Garrett Zinke, Ryan McDonald, and Asko Akopyan.

Producer/actor Mike Hatton’s production shingle, Ton of Hats, Inc. in partnership with 101 Films International have announced the surprise completion of principal photography on director Christian Sesma’s Take Back, a martial-arts action saga starring Mickey Rourke (The Wrestler); Michael Jai White; Gillian White and James Russo (Django Unchained).

The producers believe Take Back is among the first independent films to successfully wrap principal photography following California’s (and most other states’) shutdown order, which effectively shut down film production nationwide.

Written by Zach Zerries in his feature-film penning debut, Take Back, shot in nearly complete secrecy in The Coachella Valley in Riverside County California, took place at breakneck speed under strict Covid-19 guidelines set forth by city, county, and state regulations, the industry’s white sheet, “The Safe Way Forward,” as guidance, SAG-AFTRA’s requirements, and the production’s own mandatory “Covid Playbook,” created by Hatton and director Sesma.

Octane Entertainment has wrapped production on its first in-house project, the Luke Goss and Val Kilmer thriller Paydirt, and will show first footage and launch worldwide sales in Berlin.

Dcr Finance Corp. has signed a deal to complete the financing for Nicolas Cage’s upcoming crime drama “10 Double Zero.”

The project, which begins shooting on July 29 in Louisiana, is directed by Christian Sesma (“Vigilante Diaries”) from a script he co-wrote with “Green Book” writer Nick Vallelonga about a pair of officers who set out to avenge the killings of several fellow officers in a public shootout with bank robbers. As they get closer to solving the crime, they find themselves the targets of a conspiracy in the ranks of the police force.

Exclusive: Green Book Oscar-winner Nick Vallelonga is teaming with Nicolas Cage for action-thriller 10 Double Zero.

Vallelonga, who was part of the team to win Oscars for Best Screenplay and Best Picture for Green Book, has penned the film alongside Paul Sloan (I Am Wrath). This will be his first screenplay to go into production since Green Book. Christian Sesma (Vigilante Diaries) also co-wrote the script and will direct.

The cop thriller, due to get underway in July of this year, is set in the stifling heat of Louisiana and will follow two police officers who take on a personal vendetta to hunt down cop killers, but as they get closer to solving the crime, they find themselves targets of a conspiracy in the ranks of the police force and the investigation leads right back to them. It has been some time since I sat down to watch a good heist movie, so when I received The Mason Brothers and read things like “Inspired by films like The Untouchables and Reservoir Dogs,” well call me an old romantic for those films in particular but that comparison made me give this one a shot for sure.
