The second season of Netflix's Wednesday has added a new cast member that's sure to bring the show a lot of attention, with Lady Gaga set to join the Addams Family spin-off series in a mysterious role.
Details on Gaga's character have not been released, but Variety believes that her part is more likely to be a cameo than a full-on supporting role.
Gaga's involvement with the series was foreshadowed shortly after the first season, when a meme featuring Jenna Ortega's Wednesday Addams dancing to a sped-up version of 2011's Bloody Mary went viral.
Ortega would later state that she would love Gaga to be a part of the show while being interviewed at the 2023 Golden Globes.
"I'm sure Netflix would love that. I think Mrs. Thornhill and Wednesday had this weird mentor relationship or kind of understood each other in a certain way, so, if Lady Gaga were to be a part,...

Traditional horror movies with an easy-to-follow plot, relatable characters, and a healthy dose of scares are probably every horror fan’s comfort food. That’s because, when it comes to horror, the experimental and abstract genre pieces can be very hit or miss. In 2024 alone, I have come across In A Violent Nature, and I loved its take on the slasher subgenre. Bramayugam’s exploration of casteism and classism on a monochrome canvas was excellent. Oddity’s portrayal of revenge was haunting. And Outside’s use of the zombie subgenre to talk about the patriarchy was worthy of all the applause in the world. Then you have movies like Night Swim, The Devil’s Bath, Consumed, Baghead, The Hangman, Munjya, MadS, Mr. Crocket, and Don’t Move, which undoubtedly have a good concept at their core, but the execution is simply too muddled to be impactful. I am sad to say that...

Back in 1986, David Cronenberg directed a remake of Kurt Neumann’s 1958 sci-fi horror classic The Fly (which was based on George Langelaan’s short story) – and the result is considered to be one of the best remakes of all time. 20th Century Fox, now the Disney subsidiary 20th Century Studios, has been wanting to replicate that success with another remake for a couple of decades now… but the project has never managed to escape from development hell. Cronenberg wanted to come back and make another Fly movie, but it fell apart over budgetary issues. Screenwriter Todd Lincoln wrote a remake of The Fly that he described as a “dark, twisted, grounded re- imagining… Part Val-Lewton, part J.G. Ballard, part Neal Stephenson with some Horror Manga touches.” The studio wasn’t into it. J.D. Dillard was attached to direct a new version of The Fly for years, then stepped away from it.

Ah, August. We’re almost there, people. If we can just get through another four weeks of blazing temperatures, surging electricity bills, and sweating through more outfits than your coolest Olympian, then… well, then we’ll probably have four more weeks of the same wretched heat. But maybe not! September, while still typically quite warm, is still historically milder than July and August, which means there’s hope for a few precious days of 70-degree, maybe even 68-degree weather. And when you’re melting into your bed each night, hope means everything.
Hope is also present in the best new shows on Netflix this month. While the streamer is reserving its most anticipated releases for the traditional start of TV season in September — a rom-com series with Kristen Bell and Adam Brody! a family murder-mystery starring Nicole Kidman! a new movie from “The Leftovers’” own Carrie Coon! — the August Netflix calendar is actually pretty stacked.

AMC is sitting on a treasure trove of television that deserves more attention. Everyone knows the house responsible for three of the finest entries in the age of the TV antihero -- "Mad Men," "Breaking Bad," and "Better Call Saul" -- is home to "The Walking Dead" and its many sequels and spinoffs. But it's also the network that's given us "Orphan Black," "Halt and Catch Fire," "Dark Winds," "Lodge 49," "Into the Badlands," and all the other best shows you've heard of but never gotten around the watching because there's just too much damn interesting TV to check out as is. Thankfully, though, one of the more underseen jewels in AMC's crown -- not to mention the greatest vampire show on television -- is about to become available to a much larger audience.

Cobra Kai Season 6 is finally here and it’s even better than the last one, which no one thought was possible. The Netflix series follows the story of Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka), who has kind of left bullying and turned into a karate instructor. The series continues the story of the 1984 film The Karate Kid, in which Johnny lost the “All Valley Karate Tournament” to his enemy Daniel (Ralph Macchio). In the series, Johnny inspires weak kids to learn karate so that they can stand up to their bullies and fight to protect themselves. Still, everything goes wrong in a very entertaining way and many iconic characters from the Karate Kid movies appear in the series. So, if you love the teen drama, action comedy, and martial arts in Cobra Kai here are some similar shows you could watch while waiting for Cobra Kai Season 6 Part 2.

AMC Networks is betting that the “Netflix Effect” can bring its magic to a sizable portion of its lineup. A whole batch of shows from AMC are heading to Netflix in a new deal between the companies.
AMC said Tuesday that it has inked a deal with the streaming giant that will bring the prior seasons of 13 different series to the platform. Most of the shows will launch on Netflix on Aug. 19, with two others to become available in early 2025.
AMC describes the deal as a “curated selection” of shows, which will be available for 12 months. AMC is selling more shows including a trio of The Walking Dead spinoffs to third parties.
The company has closed a deal with Netflix in the U.S. to bring 15 shows to the streamer as part of a “curated selection” of AMC-branded shows.
It comes after AMC did something similar with Max last year, a move that saw Fear The Walking Dead and A Discovery of Witches air on the Warner Bros. Discovery streamer as part of a two-month “pop-up” experiment. Back in November, AMC Networks CEO Kristin Dolan said that she was “actively” exploring more deals along these lines.
The move is both promotional, the hope is that more people will tune in to these shows on Netflix, bringing viewers back to AMC and its own AMC+ service, but also contains a financial element.

Into the Badlands is “a high-octane sci-fi martial arts series” created by Alfred Gough and Miles Millar. The AMC series is set in a dystopian future with humanity in ruins because of wars, and it follows the story of Sunny, a fierce warrior who rescues a teenager with a bounty on his head. They both journey through a dangerous territory known as the Badlands to survive. Into the Badlands stars Daniel Wu in the lead role, with Orla Brady, Sarah Bolger, Aramis Knight, Emily Beecham, Oliver Stark, Madeleine Mantock, Ally Ioannides, Marton Csokas, and Nick Frost starring in supporting roles. Into the Badlands is a unique series with a unique setting, and that’s why it is hard to find a series with a similar setting and story elements, but we have tried very hard to find shows with similar story elements and many high-octane action sequences.

It's been a solid year since the last season of The Witcher dropped its first five episodes before concluding with the final three the following month, and while a lengthy wait is to be expected, the next season likely has fans frothing at the mouth.
It's hardly surprising since the series dropped the bombshell of Henry Cavill leaving the show due to behind-the-scenes drama, and now people want to know what that means for the series as a whole.
However, beyond this not-so-little casting shake-up, everything else about the series is still the same, apart from the epic conclusion of the third season that will bring the characters into vastly uncharted territories and worlds in the following season.
Grab your Witcher medallion because we're about to tell you everything we know so far about The Witcher Season 4!

It’s already been a great year for sci-fi, thanks to blockbusters such as Dune: Part Two and Civil War, as well as goofball flicks like Godzilla X Kong: The New Empire, Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, and any other movies with the word “empire” in the title. Sure, it’s not all perfect. Bong Joon-ho’s Mickey 17, starring Robert Pattinson, has been pulled from the release schedule and there’s no way that Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse will release this year. But overall, 2024 has been a strong start for sci-fi movies.
Even better, 2024 isn’t even halfway done. Per tradition, Den of Geek has put together a list of the big sci-fi movies heading your way for the rest of the year. This list doesn’t include upcoming sci-fi movies without firm release dates, but it will when they are announced. It will also be updated regularly to add any movies we may have missed,...

Since the pandemic, Black female-driven content with universal appeal has found a home on Hulu. Stepping away from the cliched stories that have too often defined others’ efforts, each new project from the streamer, be it “The 1619 Project” or the recent “The Other Black Girl,” grows increasingly more ambitious. “Black Cake,” produced by Oprah Winfrey, pushes the boundaries even further by centering on a biracial, immigrant woman’s experience.

Wednesday showrunners Alfred Gough and Miles Millar remember vividly the unusual circumstances of their first conversation with Tim Burton. The filmmaker, who they hoped they could convince to join their show, was piping in from a garden full of “life-size” dinosaur models at his U.K. home. “He was wandering around his dinosaur garden talking to us on FaceTime about his love of Wednesday Addams, and the idea that the script spoke to him in terms of being the ultimate outsider,” remembers Millar of this virtual meeting in 2020 with Burton. Just a week before, the duo were doubtful Burton would even meet with them. They had already written the entire season with the help of a pandemic-era virtual writers room, but wanted Burton’s expertise and special touches. “We were told by everyone, ‘Tim’s never done television. We don’t even know if he’ll read it,’ ” recalls Gough.

Disney+ has mined the world of superheroes quite well with their various series forays into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. But, there are other graphic novels and stories that fit within the Disney wheelhouse. It is a fortuitous coincidence that Everything Everywhere All At Once won big at the Academy Awards just as marketing began for American Born Chinese, boasting Oscar winners Michelle Yeoh and Ke Huy Quan and Stephanie Hsu, amongst many other cast members. But it is no coincidence that American Born Chinese is a solid series for the streaming platform.
American Born Chinese, which has Shang Chi’s Destin Daniel Cretton and Lucy Liu on board as directors, is an adaptation of the comic by Gene Luen Yang. It follows the Journey to the West story about the Monkey King and the mythical battle between gods and humans. Updating that story to a contemporary and American setting, American...
