During the Lazer Team Indiegogo campaign, Rooster Teeth put up a $5 pledge that had a 1 person limit, with the reward being a place on camera in the film. So many people tried to get this reward at once that the system bugged and gave it to 535 people. This group were all allowed to keep the reward and have been nicknamed "The Infamous 535".
The film was funded via Indiegogo, and although the original goal was $650,000 Rooster Teeth managed to raise a total of $2,480,421 from 37,497 funders. The amount raised meant that Lazer Team became the most funded film campaign ever on Indiegogo, at the time.
Gavin Free was ill with food poisoning during filming and almost missed one day of shooting. In fact, Free got past this issue by shoving tissue paper into his trousers to avoid 'leaking'.
