The film was supposed to be a sequel to the movie The Haunting of Molly Hartley (2008).
Gina Holden, Devon Sawa, Mary Elizabeth Winstead and Kristen Cloke all starred in a "Final Destination" film, and Winstead and Cloke both also worked together in Black Christmas (2006). Sawa and Cloke starred in Final Destination (2000), while Holden and Winstead starred in Final Destination 3 (2006).
