When I sat down to watch the 2014 horror anthology "Scary Tales" here in 2024, I had never heard about it. I happened to stumble upon it by random chance, but I wasn't particularly excited to sit down and watch it. Why? Well, because horror anthologies have a tendency of being really poor. But I still opted to sit down and watch this one, since I had never watched it before.
Needless to say that I wasn't harboring much of any great expectations to "Scary Tales".
And with good cause, because this was dubious. The stories in "Scary Tales" were sort of adequate. Sure, they were amateurish, but at least writer and director Geno McGahee tried. And thumbs up for that.
The acting performances in "Scary Tales" were questionable, wooden and amateurish for the most parts. Some of the actors and actresses were really delivering hilariously poor performances, making it all the more cringeworthy to sit through. Some of the performances were actually fair enough, not good though, but fair.
Right, well how this 2014 horror anthology managed to score a 4.6 rating here on IMDb, the score as it is this very moment I am writing this review, is just simply beyond me.
If you enjoy horror movies, and even if you enjoy horror anthologies, do yourself a favor and skip on this one. It just simply isn't worth the 84 minutes it runs for.
My rating of "Scary Tales" lands on a two out of ten stars.
