I had hopes for this one. It had good marketing and a lot of fake reviews it seems.
The acting was okay for a low budget. The movie was very predictable. I can't say there was anything new other than the ending which kind of fell flat. The sound work was well done, the camera work not so much. If shadows work into your story make sure the camera guy's shadow isn't in the shots.
I'd skip this one if I were someone reading the reviews. It offers not much new and it is really, painfully slow moving too.

There are dozens of films of possession and exorcism and "Tell Me Your Name", a.k.a. "Along Came the Devil" is another unoriginal and full of clichés one. But the greatest problem is the senseless storyline and the inexistent character development. The plot begins with the sisters Ashley and Jordan locked up in a wardrobe by their abusive father. Then their father vanishes from the story. Their mother Sarah apparently has died but she is the greatest and senseless plot point in the very end of the movie. There is an alcoholic reverend (Michael) that explains why the devil is so strong. Aunt Tanya Winbourne´s attitudes when Ashley is possessed are laughable. The non-developed characters and situations associated to the poor acting completes this forgettable movie. My vote is three.

This film is pretty poorly made with the main offender being the editing of the movie. It's blatantly obvious that large scenes were cut out rendering the complete picture as, well, incomplete.
This makes for a very confusing watch, and coupled with the rather rushed ending with no real thought or conclusion, it simply wanes into the land of moribund.

Don't waste money or time. Had to go through the process of making a account to warn how bad this movie is
Every cliche imaginable combined with the worst acting in years. Cannot understand how this got made.
Felt like it was building to something but just ended. Just another exorcism movie, but this one had the potential to be one of the good ones.
Story, acting, effects were all great but the lack of a decent ending made it a frustrating disappointment.
Also wayyyyyy to short, run time wise.
My advice,
Skip it.

I want Sydney Sweeney to succeed, unfortunately, this is the wrong kinda crapfest that will happen in. Just abhorent. One of the instances where the trailer was better than the film.

I don't often write reviews but this film is so poorly acted and written that Im trying to save as many people as possible from suffering the same 2 hour of bordem.
Just 1 horror cliche after another. Half the film didn't even make sense.
Avoid at all costs

Just so that you know where I am coming from, I love horror movies! If you have already seen "The Exorcist", you can skip this one. This movie just rehashed other Exorcism movies, but not as well done. If you want Exorcism movies, I recommend "The Exorcist" and "Deliver Us From Evil." There were some pretty good special effects in this movie, but the story was unoriginal and the ending was pretty bad.

The editing was nonexistent. The scenes did not seem to flow at all. I felt like I was watching random people read lines with "acting" in a movie. I have no idea what the point of the movie was. I feel like they edited out the important parts and left the filler.
This movie is basically a terrible ripoff of The Exorcist (1973). The movie felt short, the devil looked like Satan from The Tenacious D movie and the ending felt abrupt. The overall plot was never explained and there were more questions then answers by the end of the movie. I felt like a lot of story was ignored then never mentioned. Honestly if you're looking for a movie about a girl getting possessed just watch The Exorcist (1973) because that movie is actually good.
Demonic possession has been a subgenre in the horror film genre since the one film that remains one of the greatest horror films period, The Exorcist. While some films, for instance The Last Exorcism, offers something unique to the possession film, others tend to be nothing more than knock-offs of the 70's classic. However, for this particular film, director Jason DeVan and his wife Heather, who co-wrote the script, brings the tropes of the genre but adds something unique when it comes to the role of our central character Ashley.
The driving force of the film goes to Sydney Sweeney in the role of Ashley. From the character's introduction, you know this is young girl who has some serious problems. She finds herself under constant pressure and as a child, abuse from her father after her mother's mysterious disappearance. Sweeney brings a natural performance to the role of a woman who is attempting to return to a normal life but finds herself hearing voices that become the catalyst of her transformation into a possessed young woman with very violent tendencies.

Ok so first of all I love horror,I've seen way too many horror movies and I know all the cliches.
Now,the movie has some amazing shots and creepy moments so it's not all jump scares like most of the mediocre movies today.
The first hour was really good and yes the rest of the movie does fall off a bit but is not horrible.
I believe that if they went a different route instead of possession it would've been better but they had a vision and a message imo like "good does not always win, evil can win as well "
I didn't mind the acting,it's not bad like a lot of people say.
I liked it,the cinematography was great and the story+ending interesting.
Worth a watch

Had potential, could have been better. The Ending was so very very BAD! Cannot compare this to The Exorcist. If you are a true horror fan, don't waste your time, these 10/10 reviews are fake.
Nothing to see here. Unless you like fade to black after every single scene. Seriously what was up with that?
I usually don't write reviews, but felt the need to warn people about this one.
This movie seems to have been seriously cut in editing. The storyline makes little sense and it seems like every scene is rushing to the possession part of the movie, which stole several lines from "The Exorcism".
There are obvious parts where things are missing. For example, the girl's first day of school has a traumatic event in it that is cut from the film and the only thing said about it is that it happened.
The supporting characters are barely in the movie even though it seems like they're meant to be important.
There is a slight twist at the end that's extremely unsatisfying.
If the effects had been better and this movie had been fleshed out by a significant amount, it might have been passable, but instead it was very lacking in substance. Don't waste your time with it.

Good make up. Dot. The level of acting is doubtful and the story is a copy from the excorsist.
Started good, the 3/4 of the way through it took a nose dive. What it looks to me is they ran out of money to complete this movie. I was wondering why it was taking so long for this movie to be released. It's sad to get so involved in charecters only to have the air let out of the baloon. I can see now why it didn't get anykind of national release. Such a shame!!!

Was drawn into seeing 'Along Came the Devil', with a cool poster/cover, a somewhat intriguing if very derivative premise and as someone with a general appreciation for the genre it fits under. That it was low-budget, which from frequent personal experience is rarely a good sign due to that there are so many poor ones out there (though there are decent to good ones as well), made me though apprehensive.
It is sadly however yet another film seen recently, hence some reiteration because the exact same strengths and flaws present in those films are here, that to me was incredibly disappointing considering its potential which it doesn't do anywhere near enough with. 'Along Came the Devil' is really quite abominable, with so many huge flaws and doesn't do anything with any potential it had. There is net to nothing good here in 'Along Came the Devil', just amateur hour all round. The least thing about it is Bruce Davison.
Going on to the negatives, the story does feel over-stretched and some of it comes over as vague and under-explained in the last third where the film especially became duller, more predictable, more senseless and less unsettled and never gaining momentum. All the characters are too sketchy and with cardboard thin and colourless personalities and with nowhere near enough to make one want to endear to them. Their annoying and illogical decision making and behaviours frustrates. The chemistry is bland and unfocused.
The sound quality is obvious and utilised cheaply (being too loud in the build ups and people's reactions), the effects are shoddy and nearly all of the acting is lacking severely on the whole, that's actually an understatement as the worst of it is horrendous. The only one who tries and halfway succeeds is Bruce Davison. There is no sense of horror or engagement with the awful predicament they're in, and no connecting with the character, it just reeks of indifference which makes the viewer not care less too.
Dialogue can be stilted and rambling while the pace and film drags on forever, apparent from the very start, never recovering that interest is lost fast. The ending has no build-up and just ends ridiculously. Found too many of the supposedly shocking moments not surprising or scary and the atmosphere dreary, due to the excessive obviousness, a lot of dumb and vague moments and explanations and the lack of tension and suspense. Thrills are none, thanks to stodginess and excessive over-familiarity, and found myself never invested in the drama, which tended to be indifferently acted, interminably paced and statically directed.
A lot of 'Along Came the Devil' has really dull and going nowhere plot elements and often nonsensical and confusing character motivations, while too many of the things to make you shocked are far from creative or unsettling. It all feels rather tame while the threat completely lacks menace and looks terrible.
Nothing freaky or interesting, no development and too derivative, while everything is unimaginative and are more odd than scary, completely failing to show any sense of dread. There is nothing interesting or illuminating with what the film was trying to do and the drama is overwrought with no momentum and a lot of weirdness. The direction is barely there and disorganised and the music is ill-fitting. 'Along Came the Devil' is very amateurish visually, too drearily lit and shows no care in the way it's shot. The editing has more continuity errors than one can count.
Summing up, awful. 1/10 Bethany Cox

Then yes you will be let down.
I just wanted a fun little horror movie, and I was very pleased.
It always amazes me how everybody gives like a 4 out of 10 to every horror movie, but some crappy romantic comedy gets like a 6?

Wow, this movie trash..During the exorcism I was laughing due to the acting and effects. The acting all around was like so suspicious. The acting was equivalent to a meth head talking to the police about him not knowing what meth was.

One of the worst things I have ever seen in my life. Looks like a neuro network compiled lots of generic horror ideas and created this abomination.
I think that the person who wrote the dialogues lives in an abandoned cave and never had a social interaction.
