- Yusif is half Danish, half Arab travels to the Middle Eastern city of Medina - along with his pregnant Danish wife, Sarah. Yusif wants to start a new life with his wife in his father's hometown. But this is only the beginning of Yusif's dark travel. As he tries to find a way out of Medina, disastrous temptations are challenging his tranquility and his belief in his Creator. As Yusif is tried in his beliefs a harrowing march of tears and blood is about to bring him to the edge of damnation.

- Danish-Arab Yusif (Omar Shargawi) arrives with his pregnant wife Sarah (Sara Hjort Ditlevsen) to the city of Medina - in a nameless country, a place in a mythical Middle East. Yusif dreams of a harmonious life with his wife and their future child in his deceased father's homeland. But the dream quickly becomes a nightmare. Shortly after arrival, Yusif is involved in a street boy's death and he is imprisoned for murder. People in prison are everything but kind to foreign child murderer and Yusif is subjected to inhuman tortures from his fellow prisoners. Now Yusif loose everything - his dreams, his dignity, his wife and his child. And when Yusif one day escapes prison, he is everything but the hopeful human being he was when he first arrived at his father's birthplace. But Yusif´s spiritual journey has just begun. In his attempt to return to Denmark, he is drawn deeper into the darkest recesses of Medina. Evil and temptations are lurking everywhere and as the story progresses, it becomes clear that Yusif might never will find home.
