Holi has been a time that has not been very favorable at the box office. While there have been superstar releases on the festival, the box office figures and stats have never painted a decent picture. In fact, stalwarts like Akshay Kumar and Ajay Devgn have also delivered disasters during the Holi weekend.

However, this year might be a little different since Ajay Devgn‘s Shaitaan is still working well at the box office and is expected to churn out great numbers in the extended Holi weekend.

On the other hand, Kunal Kemmu’s Madgaon Express is also working fairly, and Randeep Hooda’s Swatantrya Veer Savarkar is picking up pace over the holidays. However, in the last 13 years, Holi has not been a celebratory event at the box office for Bollywood films.

Mumbai, Aug 19 (Ians) I knew Nishi sir for the past 12 or 13 years. We had a common group and used to meet quite often. At that time, I was working television and he was making films. Whenever we used to meet, weekly or once in a fortnight, we use to have a lot of fun. We never discussed work. He was a senior and a good friend. Out of the blue, one fine morning he called me and offered me 'Lai Bhaari', and I instantly agreed to do the role.

Mumbai, Aug 17 (Ians) Filmmaker Nishikant Kamat passed away in a Hyderabad hospital on Monday. He was 50. Kamat was battling liver cirrhosis for the past two years.

On Monday evening, a statement issued by Hyderabad's Aig hospital, where the filmmaker was admitted, confirmed the news.

The statement reads: "Mr Nishikant Kamat was admitted to Aig Hospitals on 31st July, 2020 with complains of fever and excessive fatigue. It was diagnosed that he was suffering from liver cirrhosis for the past two years. Initially, we started antibiotics and supportive medications upon which Mr Kamat showed improvement, but his condition soon deteriorated with progressive liver dysfunction and drowsiness. He was immediately shifted to the ICU, where his general condition gradually declined. Since yesterday, he developed respiratory failure and hypotension. Despite maximum efforts from hepatologists, gastroenterologists, pulmonologists and intensivists, his condition deteriorated eventually leading to multiple organ failure. Plagiarism Corrie Hinschen, who reviews Asian films, says in the video that he's going to expose Indian directors who rip-off films from other languages shamelessly.Tnm StaffYouTuber Corrie Hinschen is on a mission - to expose a whole lot of Indian films that have been unabashed rip-offs of films from other countries or languages. Hinschen, who reviews Asian films on YouTube, says he was forced to make this video after he found out that a Malayalam film which was highly recommended to him turned out to be a copy of another film. “First things first, this video was originally intended to be a review of the Malayalam film Chaappa Kurishu. This film was recommended to me by several people and I am very sorry to say this to you, but you have been bamboozled, you have been duped, you have been ripped off,” he alleges. Speaking on Sameer Tahir’s 2011 flick, Chaappa Kurishu, which stars Fahadh Faasil, Remya Nambeesan and Vineeth Srinivasan, Hinschen claims, “This movie is an unauthorised remake of the South Korean film Handphone,. “Why do Indian directors do this?” he asks in the video. Hinschen also told his viewers that Indian directors have a reputation worldwide for ripping off other films, adding that once they were called out, they hide under the word “inspired” . “I find it amusing that they are quite happy to take all the credit before that moment. But once that moment happens where somebody calls them out…they start to throw around the word inspired or the phrase inspired by,” he said. The YouTuber even suggests that these directors buy themselves a dictionary to understand the word “inspired”. Hinschen also said he hoped more Indian directors will follow John Abraham’s lead. The Bollywood actor has reportedly bought the rights for a South Korean film called Rocky Handsome and has also given complete credits to the writer. “This has to end. It is getting ridiculous. Not only are these writers, directors and producers ripping off other filmmakers. They are ripping off you as a consumer. Actor-producer John Abraham says he loves action as a genre, but doesn’t want to do a destructive role.

“I am trying to do something different after ‘Force 2’. However, I love doing action movies. It is like second nature to me, but I don’t want to do a destructive role. I like comedy as well, especially slapstick comedy,” John said at the trailer launch of his forthcoming film “Force 2” on Thursday.

A sequel to the 2011 film directed by Nishikant Kamat, “Force 2” is a spy genre where a new antagonist (Tahir Raj Bhasin) kills Raw agents.

Shared Kelkar has dubbed for the film's lead actor Vin Diesel. Talking about his experience, he revealed that it was his first time dubbing for Vin Diesel. It was challenging for Sharad to emulate Vin's voice as Vin has a gruff and slightly rough voice whereas his voice is clear and deep. Party lovers have been in for a treat with John Abraham’s upcoming movie, Rocky Handsome. They’ve been grooving to an updated version of the 2003 hit, Rock Tha Party, and master some mean twerking moves in the process.

Moroccan-Canadian beauty, Nora Fatehi, gave the song her own twist in the action-thriller. She rocks her moves in the official remix of Rock Tha Party, a hit by Danish-Indian band, Bombay Rockers. John Abraham, who is now all geared up for his action packed flick Rocky Handsome (which releases this week), will now be seen hosting a special episode of the extremely popular TV show 'Saavdhan India', a show that mirrors the reality of today's society. Besides promoting Rocky Handsome on the show, the said episode will see John Abraham addressing the safety issues for women in India, through the narration of a story involving innocent girls who are accosted and brutally raped. The episode featuring John Abraham as the host will be aired tomorrow (Thursday).

Actor and producer John Abraham made an impromptu call to record an unplugged version of a romantic rock ballad with singer Ankit Tiwari and Shreya Ghoshal for the upcoming release, Rocky Handsome. He recently recorded the version of Alfazon Ki Tarah, composed by Ankit for the film.

The actor has flexed his vocal muscles on only one previous occasion, for comedy Welcome Back. The track for Rocky Handsome was recorded after the soundtrack for the film was finalised and had already been launched.

Ankit sang the original version of Alfazon Ki Tarah, but the unplugged version features Shreya Ghoshal and John as well. The three of them recorded for the song in Mumbai recently.

However, when it came to Rocky Handsome – which as per the makers is an ultimate for hand-to-hand action when it comes to Indian flicks – he wanted to be sure that the child artist in the film, Diya Chalwad wasn’t impacted. While it was a given that she would kept safe physically, even mentally as well as emotionally she had to be safeguarded.

“She is a child after all, and there was no reason why she had to see all the action being actually shot in front of her eyes,” informs our source from Rocky Handsome, “It is a different thing when you see that on screen because there it is all cool and sexy.

The Abhishek Bachchan, John Abraham starrer Hera Pheri 3 seems to be in a soup. Producer of the film Firoz Nadiadwala, who also produced the previous John starrer Welcome Back, desires to make the third installment of this comedy franchise in an extravagant manner but it seems that the ongoing financial crunch is posing to be a huge hindrance. In a bid to fulfill his dreams of shooting the film overseas, we hear that Firoz Nadiadwala has even approached Reliance Entertainment to back his project while Eros is already backing the film. On the other hand, Reliance though has showed interest in the film, it is being said that they have their own set of conditions. They are planning to make it much more commercially viable wherein they have asked Firoz to shoot Hera Pheri 3 in India and will approve of the deal only if the film is completed on a committed budget.

John Abraham's new film Rocky Handsome has got itself into a situation of conflict with the censor board. Reportedly the film is too violent for mass consumption and was reluctantly granted an 'A' certificate. However the makers are not willing to take the 'A' certificate. Says a source in the know, "If you've seen the original Korean film The Man From Nowhere that too was a very violent film. Rocky Handsome has scenes of graphic violence. There are also references to human trafficking; the flesh trade and violence against children. No censor in the world would allow this film for universal exhibition." Nature’s tailor made romantic getaway Seychelle’s became the picture perfect backdrop for ‘Rehnuma’. John and Shruti share a great chemistry in the song. We hear the speed boat used in the song caught the actor’s fancy who, post taking only basic necessary lessons, would take it for spins between breaks and be in full control of it like a professional in the deep blue waters of Seychelles.

Rocky Handsome is John & Shruti’s second film together and they have certainly created some aura around them.

Kamat feels the stunts in Rocky Handsome are unique. "They are stylized yet raw and real. If you ask me for a reference it would have to be Transporters."

Kamat conducted a 3-week action workshop with John. "He has a very pumped-up gym-designed body. We needed John to be more agile. We prepared John for the role in Bangkok.
