Originally, Edgeworth was going to be used as the main prosecutor in the game, but was changed to Franziska Von Karma during the development. Developers found that Edgeworth was really popular among the fans and wanted to use the character "more smartly and sparingly"
The game's director Shu Takumi began development on the plot of Ace Attorney - Justice for All, directly after he had come back from vacation. The game's producer wanted Takumi to write five story/cases for the game before it even reached full development. He made the required amount, but ending up dumping one of the cases because it couldn't fit on a Nintendo DS cartridge. Don't worry, this story/case was recycled for the next game, Phoenix Wright - Trials and Tribulations.
It is the second entry in the Ace Attorney video game franchise.
