- When students all flee an elite university in Vermont for winter break, the locals and faculty hunker down for their favorite time of year - the annual Christmas Bar Trivia Tournament. For Celeste (Sursok), a Type-A astronomy professor, this event combines the magic of Christmas with her greatest comfort in life: knowing the right answer. But when her colleague drops out of the tournament to do a month-long lecture tour in Asia, Celeste's team must adopt Max (Daugherty), the football team's new offensive coordinator. To Celeste, Max seems like nothing more than a grown-up class clown - though he brings an undeniable knowledge of sports trivia (a category their team has always fallen short in). Initial clashes between the two eventually turn into mutual appreciation as the team enjoys scavenger hunts on campus, decorating the international house with Christmas lights, baking Christmas cookies, and advancing toward the championship trivia game. Celeste can't help but delight in Max's infectious enthusiasm, love for all things Christmas and perhaps most importantly, his comfort with the unknown. And after a romantic wintery night at the campus observatory with Max, Celeste starts to wonder if being open to life's surprises is more important than knowing the answer to everything.—Hallmark Media
- Celeste is an Astronomy professor at Hampstead University in Vermont. She loves everything about the institution except the priority it gives to the winning football program at the expense of everything else, including astronomy. She considers everyone associated with it a proverbial dumb jock, especially as the football players call one of her classes "space rocks for jocks". This Christmas season, she, competitive to the core with an intensity to match, is excited that she may be on the winning team for the annual local institution of the Christmas trivia tournament at Nick's bar, a six night, six person per team competition, the winner with the highest cumulative score. She is not only excited by the prospect of winning, but by this year's addition to her regular team, Math professor Richard, who not only lets everyone in his orbit know that he won on Jeopardy! (1984) - twice - but to who Celeste is romantically attracted especially as his intensity in being a winner matches hers. But when Richard has to bow out at the last minute, Celeste has to scramble to find that necessary sixth team member, difficult not only as most people have gone home for the holidays, but that anyone who is in town that is interested in the combination of Christmas and trivia is already on another team. So she is dismayed when her other teammates encourage the one person seemingly willing to join their team, the football program's new offensive coordinator, Max, with who she previously had a run-in in what she considered his and thus the football program's privileged mentality. While Max is also used to winning in being part of the football program, he has a more relaxed attitude in needing to have fun for fun's sake along the way. As Max brings a different dynamic to the team, Celeste sees a different side to people associated to football and to the trivia tournament as the two of them start to fall for each other. A happily-ever-after for the two of them may be dependent on the process and outcome of the trivia tournament.—Huggo
