In keeping with the theme of Beethoven, the composer whose given name is the title of the programme, the underlying background music is a reworking of Beethoven's 5th symphony.

Goofs
At about 54 minutes in, John and Lucy plug in a fax machine. The fax machine then receives a fax sent prior to James' disappearance. Unlike emails and SMS messages, faxes do not hang around in the ether. They are sent immediately from one machine to another. If the machine was not connected at the time that the fax was sent, it would not receive it.

It's perhaps the best thing on right now.

Debbie Williams is worried about her husband Peter, who's vanished, instead of doing what Lucy wants, and focusing on his brother, John looks into the case, suspecting one of the staff, who were on a team building exercise.

As good as the first episode, intriguing and amusing, we definitely now see the formula, and it's a winner. An intriguing, hard to work out puzzle, a list of suspects, and a Poirot style unveiling of the killer at the end.

I'm keen to see exactly what has happened to John's brother, is he actually dead, or is he out there somewhere? I look forward to finding out.

There were some very fine performances here, Felicity Kendall was great as the serious hotelier, and I just loved the guy with the flip chart board, his interactions with John were so funny.

I'd love to know where this was filmed, that building is exquisite, so grand.
