Regiane Alves also passed on the role of Clara's lover Marina due to her pregnancy. Juliana Paes and Mel Fronckowiak auditioned. Tainá Müller eventually got the role.

Alinne Moraes was set to portray Clara but eventually passed on due to her pregnancy. Giovanna Antonelli was then cast. Clara would be Moraes second Manoel Carlos' gay character after Women in Love (2003).

With the exception of Oscar Magrini and Bruna Marquezine, the early episodes notably featured mostly stage actors, unknown among the audience, before time passed by and they "became" the main cast.

Lilian Lemmertz was the first to portray Manoel Carlos's trademark character Helena, in Baila Comigo (1981). Her daughter Júlia Lemmertz now plays Helena for Carlos' last TV drama.
