This is an adaptation of Jérôme Ferrari's book by the same title, "À son image". When director Thierry de Peretti read the book, it had just finished Thierry de Peretti, about the same subject matter, and he thought it would be weird doing the same thing again with different characters, which was what convinced him to do just that. The main difference is that the characters are completely fictional this time, unlike his previous movie.
Selected in the Directors' Fortnight section of the 2024 Cannes Film Festival.
Originally, In the book, Thierry de Peretti wanted to cast the same group of actors used in Thierry de Peretti, but the events covered in the book span 25 years, which would make the actors too old for the beginning of the movie, and too young for the end of the movie. This age issue was quite tricky to solve, until they decided to cast only one group of actors for the whole movie (young-looking but mature enough to be credible as 30-year olds), and to artificially condense the time span of the story to 15 years, even if it doesn't quite match the timeline of the historical events in Corsica.
Thierry de Peretti: he plays the priest, who is also Antonia's godfather. To prepare for the role, he spent two weeks in the Saint-Luc seminary in Aix-en-Provence. There, he apparently talked a lot about Michael Corleone's guilt with the seminary director.
