By now you probably all know I have a soft spot for ridiculous shark movies, be they from Roger Corman, The Asylum, Syfy or anyone else… Which is why I always Have to subject myself to whatever treasures this disparate genre provide. Be it a Zombie Shark, Ghost Shark, Sharknado, Sharktopus, a 3-Head Shark, a Swamp Shark etc., etc…. whatever!?!
This time round we’ve got killer sharks and an environmental message in Ice Sharks. A Syfy channel originjal movie from The Asylum (so its a low-budget double-header) which sees a team of expert scientists are studying the effects of climate change on marine life at a research station deep in the Arctic. Suddenly, out of nowhere, hell breaks loose when a new breed of aggressive, ravenous sharks suddenly crack through...

As Tracy Jordan once said on 30 Rock: Live every week like it’s Shark Week.
Syfy seems to be taking that maxim to heart, announcing its own Shark Week of sorts (Sorry, Discovery), pegged to the upcoming release of Sharknado 2: The Second One. Sharknado 2, is, of course, a sequel to last year’s super-buzzy, low-budget television movie, Sharknado.
“Sharknado Week” will air July 26 through August 2; Sharknado 2 premieres Wed. July 30. Also in the programming block? Roger Corman’s Sharktopus vs. Pteracuda (August 2), Mega Shark vs. Mecha Shark (July 26), and Sharkmania: The Top 15 Biggest Baddest Bloodiest Bites (July 27).

Sixty-nine days before Discovery is scheduled to unveil Shark Week 2014, Syfy this afternoon announced its first Sharknado Week — which, yes, includes the July 30 debut of Sharknado 2: The Second One. It also will feature the unveiling of Syfy’s new Roger Corman film Sharktopus vs. Pteracuda, which premieres Saturday, July 26. That means it will beat Shark Week to TV by more than two weeks. Discovery Communications execs were said to be less than thrilled with Syfy’s announcement, stopping short of calling it a blatant rip-off. But after Discovery had nicely invited Sharknado stars Ian Ziering and Tara Reid to be guests on last year’s Shark After Dark, this seems along the lines of stealing the silver on the way out. In its announcement, Syfy even used some of Discovery’s traditional Shark Week slanguage — “fintastic” and such. Here is Syfy’s announcement: Highlights Of Syfy’S Sharknado Week...
