I sat down in 2021 to watch the 2020 movie "Timecrafters: The Treasure of Pirate's Cove" with my 11 year old son. We were hoping for a wholesome family entertaining movie here from writers Jeffrey Butscher and Chip Fraser.
And while "Timecrafters: The Treasure of Pirate's Cove" was watchable, it was just ultimately not an overly impressive movie, as it felt very cluttered and not particularly structured in its storyline. And this definitely held the movie back from properly delivering what was expected.
For a movie made in 2020, then I am just dumbfounded at the horrible green screen scenes in the movie. They were so fake that even a blind man would go "oh you've got to be kidding". And even my son was pointing out how horribly fake it looked. So that was not a great thing for the movie.
I have to admit that I sat down to watch "Timecrafters: The Treasure of Pirate's Cove" with somewhat of an expectation to the movie given the fact that the movie had Malcolm McDowell, Eric Balfour, Patrick Muldoon and Denise Richards on the cast list. But after having sat through the entire movie, I am a little bit puzzled at why they were in a movie such as this as it turned out.
Director Rick Spalla didn't really manage to deliver a memorable movie, much less a wholesome entertaining one either. Sure, the movie was watchable, but it was just too mundane and it is one that will quickly fade into oblivion for me.
My rating of "Timecrafters: The Treasure of Pirate's Cove" lands on a four out of ten stars.

What is the mystery?. The mystery is how an actor of McDowell's standing can end up in this c-movie tosh. Most of the acting is amateurish and the special effects are derisively laughable. He who starred in 'Clockwork Orange, If, Aces High and Caligula, to name but a few and surely was considered among the elite of Britain's great character actors has sunk to this...how sad..

Well, it's kinda like The Goonies, but without the cast, the acting, the characters, the story, the clever dialogue, the genius directing, the credibility, the props, the visuals, the overall loveability... Ah, forget it. It's nothing like the Goonies. It's just nothing.
I only give it two stars on account of the occasional spark of genuine comedic brilliance from the supporting actors; very rare, though... Give it a miss. You're missing, well, nothing.

I'm a Huge fan of pirate movies. And Time travel movies. The combo of these two would make an excellent movie.
This movie however wasn't as good as I thought that it would be.
This description said it was an Adventure and Family movie.
I'd see this movie more or less for Children under 15, maybe even 10. It was a simple slightly amusing flick that would catch the eyes of children. I'm 46 years old and I adore a GOOD Disney film, Classic or modern and find good family fun in those.
I was getting bored of this film, wasn't enough action, not as much adventure as I'd like to have seen.
The story and concept was a great idea.

Anti-money-laundry committee should investigate the purpose of producing this movie. I've seen amateurs acting better than this cast. If you have passed the age of 4 or 5 I'm sure you will find more interest in watching a plant while it's growing. There's a good chance you will develop a brain damage while watching this film. And these were the nicest things I could say about it. Enjoy.

Okay, I'm not going to talk about the quality of the acting or the plot. I'm just commenting on family value and is it worth watching. It was a decent movie that the entire family can watch. It was entertaining and fun. Not the best movie ever but if you want to get the family together to watch, you won't be disappointed.
So I get it feels like I am shamelessly promoting this film. Did you know that Chip Fraser conceptualized this nearly 30 years ago, and his close friend and writing partner Jeffrey Butscher and him wrote it over 25 years ago. They pounded the pavement and tirelessly made calls, lining up meetings with top studio execs across the board! They rose ears, and curried interests with near green lit scenarios on multiple occasions, paving the way for Pirates of the Caribbean, and other Buccaneering pictures.
This is a true testament of perseverance and follow through. This is a passionate hardworking understudy Craig Albrecht from Nebraska having this in his Pitch quiver for over two decades, and a crossover to Director Rick Spalla seeing the vision and raising the funding to bring wholesome fun loving entertainment to his breakout directorial debut.
Time Crafters "Treasure of Pirates Cove" is a family creative legacy, with cameos and names dear to us. This is "Never Giving Up!" This is my first time seeing myself on the big screen, and before Covid hit was supposed to be that way for anyone across the planet that bought a ticket. Now everyone can see it, everyone can share it. Please pop the popcorn ice your beverage, gather the friends and family and enjoy a contribution that has a history that means something. Thank you for reading this, thank you for sharing, and Never Giving Up!

If you accept it for what it is -- a made for cable TV movie -- it is on par with Nickelodeon and Hallmark, e.g., The Good Witch. Better than Stowaway 2021.
The one thing I don't understand is why Maddie McCormick (Betsy / Constance) tries to pull off an australian accent. Demerit against the director.

The movie was boring and low quality. If you feel like wasting your time it's perfect for you. The movie's story line has inconsistencies and is confusing.

Apparently you love this film or you hate this film. What you should do is take one second to educate yourself about Pirate's Cove in the outerbanks of North Carolina and the lost colony, the inspiration for the movie. This was the original stomping ground of true pirates and early settlers in the new world. Goonies, a great movie, does not have that. This is not a rip off of other films.

It was bad enough that Malcolm McDowell starred in Star Trek but now he is in a kids movie? I had seen him in HG Wells time machine back in the 70's and thought he was great in it, but once I heard he made that raunchy X-rated film and then Clockwork Orange, I never liked him after that. I wonder how many starlets he corrupted. He is definitely not one of the actors I would want any child to look up to.
Other than that, it is not the best kids movie, but it is not bad. It is one of those fun type movies that a child would enjoy. Which makes it even more strange that they picked Malcolm to be in this movie.
Then you have Denise Richards. She makes the movie. She is still pretty after all these years. I would say she deserved better parts but she made this movie. She shown high above everyone else. I have to see if there are any movies of hers that I missed that show off her talent.

Didn't even hold the attention of my 8-year-old.
Nothing wrong with the acting, was fair. The story was pretty bad and the effects were worse.
...And how is it that in "200 years" a whole town couldn't find the treasure but, these kids find it in one day - and the door wasn't even locked.
Won't be watching this again on a family movie night.

Well crafted story juxtaposing 18th century pirates and 21st century kids.
The child actors are all stars.
Keeps all the family on the edge of their seats and off their smartphones!
I hope this sparks a sequel or becomes a TV series.

I watched this movie with enthusiasm...
There are plot twists throughout the whole flick which continually keep the tension high...
The kids are cute -- the actors are all solid..
It's been compared to Goonies, but obviously it's more contemporary... Its contemporaniety is realistic for 2021 in terms of culture, technology and zeitgeist.
A good kids-teen-kids film, good for kids and teens..!

This movie definitely delivers some laughs, has good acting and, although lacking in proficient cinematography, the directing is solid so that keeps the ship in one piece.
