If this documentary does nothing else maybe it can shine light on the horrific guardian system as well as unfair banking processes when folks are in crisis.
Shot before a frontal lope dementia and aphasia diagnosis, this documentary truly shows the Hell Wendy was living in alcoholism and cognitive decline. It also shows her enablers who carted her around NYC and Los Angeles, who on camera said they had her best interest at heart. Will was totally aware of her failings and the woman Shawn was truly a deplorable character who I think was only after her money and turned her back on her 24 hour drinking. Very unlikeable woman. Her driver, Shawn and Will could certainly see Wendy was in major trouble in addition to drinking but ignored it. This was NOT denial it was abuse.
I think her son, niece and nephew have her best interest and her sister seems to be an appropriate guardian. My heart goes out to them because they appear to have been kept in the dark. So why not?
The documentary flowed nicely with some flaws In documenting forgetfulness they showed an early Wendy Clip where she forgot Steve Allen's last name. Bad choice as that is normal memory lapses we all have, not a sign of cognitive impairment. And that was like year 1 of the show. Also, apparently the family cannot call Wendy yet in a scene at the end of the documentary, Wendy calls Wanda and Wanda says she will call her back. Her son and nephew seem like solid young men.
It is a shame that the Wendy Williams Show producers did not respond but at this writing her producers are being investigated for financial issues with another show and are in big trouble. It would have been nice if there were scenes of a healthier Wendy. What the documentary shows is a confused, volatile, emotional and irrational and intoxicated Wendy , with little flashbacks to the Wendy the fans know.
I still wonder if her original diagnosis of Wernicke- Korsahoff alcohol related dementia is more appropriate than the frontal lope and aphasia label because of the extent of her drinking which was a long time process. More will be revealed. But there is no television future for Wendy.
The Blac China snippet and scenes with her kind father were so sad .

This documentary is heart wrenching but expected to some degree 💔
When you don't honor & respect others - as was done daily under the guise of a career... When you don't honor & respect yourself by staying with a man who disrespected and dishonored you in public and private under the guise of a marriage... When you don't respect and honor your body by abusing drugs & alcohol under the guise of partying...
It's not a surprise to anyone with eyes that Wendy Williams' world, health and marriage came crashing down around her.
Although her decisions & lifestyle choices heavily determined much of the heartache she's enduring at this time in her journey, Prayers up for her healing spiritually primarily bcuz it's unlikely she will heal from what she's dealing with physically or mentally. I send prayers for her family as well who suffers seeing a loved ones life unravels in such a painful and public way. It's also sad that those around her are blinded by some fake form of loyalty instead of admitting the obvious to anyone with eyes to see and ears to hear that mentally as well as physically, it's Crystal clear shes not ok.
May her family remove all these fake ppl from her life and keep her safe as she rides this out. There is no cure for the ailments she has, all they can do is love on her and get her the professional help she needs. Prayers for all involved cause this situation is heartbreaking 💔 It's a hard watch.

Don't listen to the negative reviews! See it for yourself. I'll admit it's not the best documentary I've seen. However, it's packed with content to paint a clear picture of what's going on with Wendy and how addiction can RUIN a persons life and damage families. Although super personal, I love that the family did this to tell her/their side of the story instead of the media. It's obvious that Wendy comes from a strong family that loves her and I hope all the best for them. Especially Kevin Jr, the nephew and niece who seem to be amazing young people and I wish all the best for them & the entire family.

Nothing new. We heard all of this in the headlines. Exploiting a person with brain damage of dementia. Too sad to watch. She needs real care in a skilled facility where they know how to handle dementia. Very difficult to watch. Too many commercials. Shame on those who pushed this through. No one is protecting her from her self harm of alcohol and vaping. She should be near her family as her days are numbered. She deserves a documentary of the facts of how she became an icon of her times. Chronic alcoholism that leads to dementia is not a documentary anyone wants to watch. Shame on Lifetime for 4 episodes.

Lifetime did a great job on the entire documentary. I'm amazed and impressed that they were able to put up with Wendy and her HORRIBLE behavior. She is awful. Treats people like dirt, speaks to people in a way that is so degrading and disrespectful that I was left in shock over and over again. She is hateful beyond words and has life is an absolute disaster. This was painful to watch and even more sad to see that no one ever stands up to her. You can't treat people this way and get away with it. Someone needs to put a stop to it. I will say, I do pity her. Her life has fallen apart and it's a real tragedy.

I would like to preface I have experience with dementia patients. My grandparents both had dementia. It is SO obvious, so so obvious, Wendy had it while filming. At the BARE MINIMUM, that something was not right cognitively.
The only people who seemed to care about Wendy in the series was her nephew, the bank, and partially the film crew. Her manager, and her "crew" insisted over and over "that's just Wendy!" While the clip before is her not knowing where she is, babbling about nonsense, and losing her mind over a vape.
In between clips of Wendy having random outburst, being utterly confused, rambling on, and forgetting things...her managers are insisting she will be back on tv! And having a podcast!
Although this was filmed before her "official" diagnosis it's VERY clear she isn't there and something is wrong. This docu-series is hard to watch, its as if she's a puppet for views and money paraded around by her management team and crew. Truly sick. If anything, this exposes how corrupt her team is, and how truly sick social media and the like are.
This was filmed beautifully and truly does a good exposé so to speak on how she was treated.
All I can say is I hope she's somewhere being taken care of and no being paraded around like a sick show monkey. As someone who's witnessed the disease firsthand, no one deserves to go through it, and I truly hope she is being taken care of and comfortable.
