Alternately watching the two documentaries that are leaving Netflix this week without knowing that they were about the same topic, Os Quatro Paralamas (2020) and A Farra do Circo (2014) , which portrays the band's beginnings in the flying circus, even more so as a circus was a Freshman show that once took place in Lapa... Lots of good music, from Brazilian Pop Rock, alternated with interviews with several important characters for the band, old interviews, a show from the beginning of their career, all wonderfully nostalgic...
Led by Mayor Fortuna, Circo Voador, in Rio de Janeiro, served as a launching pad for an entire generation that came years later to write its name among the greats of Brazilian music.
Roberto Berliner rescued all the material he filmed about Circo Voador, from the installation of the tarpaulin on the Arpoador promenade to the trip to the Mexico Cup in 1986. Even using exclusively images from the time, the film is surprisingly current in its discourse. Furthermore, being able to see complete takes by Barão Vermelho, Paralamas, Caetano Veloso, Astrúbal Trouxe O Trombone among others, is a gift for us. A much-needed lesson in activism and optimism, today and always.
