Saw twice as part of LFF.
Romantic drama is a notoriously difficult genre to get right but Bridges/Goldstein/Poots have nailed it. The sci-fi elements of the plot are done with a real lightness of touch never overpowering the love story but instead giving universality to it. Where special effects and CGI are increasingly used (no matter what the genre) and you only have to look elsewhere to see overblown performances and overblown auteur directing, Goldstein and Poots give performances with nothing to hide behind, making this one of the most sincere films I have seen in years.
At the Q&A following the screening, director, writer & stars joked that this film only got made because Brett got famous but of all the films they could have made, I am so glad and greatly appreciate they made this one.
