After reading the other reviews - and after seeing the movie at its Berlin premiere - I have to say I find those reviews a bit too harsh.
Yes, it's probably not gonna win an Oscar but what do you expect when you read the story?
I think it's a decent B-movie and there are certainly worse ways to spend 90 minutes of your life.
The CGI work is once again very impressive and if you really want to critize something, it's the dialogues which can hardly be any more wooden at times.
Besides that it reminds a bit of teens having their first encounter with the other gender - a long build up with a very quick finish (pun not intended).
And if you watched the Q&A after the showing: I think we're all waiting now for the third part with Udo Kier as Nazi robot crocodile where only his lower part works.
Watch it!

I gave the first Iron sky a 8/10. For a crazy plot it somehow all worked really well, good humor. Some likable characters. And it felt cohesive.
The sequel on the other hand feels like a bit of a mess. You can see the potential for a better film and it's pretty frustrating. The VFX for a 20 mil budget is pretty good. But the plot is just ridiculous and not in a good way like its predecessor. Most of characters were not funny and badly written. It doesn't make sense in really badly written ways that i feel could've been easily changed to make it a bit better than it was and not so by the numbers with plot holes that take you away from immersion in the wacky world they're trying to represent. Personally if i wrote this film, I would've taken it in a entirely different direction. All the pop culture references mostly didn't work as intended, instead of being funny it was just cringey. And the ending was just dumb and rushed.
But I didn't hate the film, I was mildly entertained, enjoyed the visuals/world they created and because i liked the first film quite a bit, perhaps im being a little forgiving when giving it a 5/10. I can understand why people would vote it lower tho.
A younger, high audience may get more enjoyment out of this. I'm getting older and don't smoke bud anymore. Perhaps that made a difference in my enjoyment, I dunno.
I'd say to give it a go if you liked the first film, make your own assessment. I can imagine there will be some people who will like it. Its definitely not totally terrible.

I loved Iron Sky 1 for what it was, a good SF B-Movie with some very sarcastic and even intelligent political in-jokes. I would rate the first Iron Sky 6/10, or even 7+/10 within its B-movie genre.
This sequel is a big disappointment, unfortunately (and, to reiterate, I write this as someone who loves B-movies and I even donated some money for this sequel during its crowdfunding phase):
(Partial reason for all the delays: The movie ended up in development hell because of legal troubles with a few members of the FX team from the first movie concerning intellectual property. I will spare you the boring details. This results in more of the jokes and puns that COULD have worked a few years ago being completely outdated as of 2019.).
Recommendation for a third Iron Sky movie (which is at least hinted at when the credits roll):
Get a better scriptwriter, get a better scriptwriter. Did I mention to get a better scriptwriter? And maybe a new director as well.
Seriously, who thought that this was a good or even average script (even for a B-movie)!? To add insult to injury, they even used crowdfunding for the script. A quote from their IGG page:
"In the first phase, we are looking to raise $150 000. This money will be used to produce a full script for the film..."
A film student could have probably written a much better script for $1500. One percent of their budget. I'm being serious (you will likely agree with me once you watched the dreadful movie).
Update on my original review above: It looks like the Finnish production company behind the IS franchise went bankrupt (no wonder given the box office flop of IS 2), therefore a third movie to end the Iron Sky trilogy on Mars looks very unlikely at the moment. Maybe a new company picks up the franchise and hires more competent people?
This sequel is a big disappointment, unfortunately (and, to reiterate, I write this as someone who loves B-movies and I even donated some money for this sequel during its crowdfunding phase):
- Weak plot, based on a terrible script. No credible bad guy/gal, "jokes" that simply don't work or are tired ("jailbroken" iPhones in 2019?), coupled with wooden acting. However, I don't think the actors are to blame a lot given the incredibly weak script and thin plot they had to work with.
- The special effects are not much better than in the first movie, where did the budget (around 3X the amount of the first movie, 20+ million versus 7-8 million Euro!) end up? For example, the director asked for extra crowdfunding money for some additional "Vril" kill scenes that add next to nothing in the final version.
- On a personal note (since I helped to crowd-fund the project): Weak communication with all the funders, credibility is broken or lost. "Normal" moviegoers got to see the sequel weeks or months in advance - and since the movie leaked out to the usual Internet sites, there was and is no sound logic in NOT providing a digital copy (or at least a stream) to all the backers who funded this movie in good faith many, many years ago.

The first Iron Sky took a great premise, and injected it with great characters, witty dialogue, great action scenes, and fantastic special effects. So ever since seeing it, I've eagerly anticipated the sequel.
The Coming Race builds on the theories of Nazi esotericism, and promises a lot. Unfortunately it delivers very little. Virtually everything that made the first film what it was, is entirely missing in this sequel.
The characters are flat. Even the characters reappearing from the original are flat. There's absolutely no humour in this film. I didn't laugh once. Not once. The pacing is all over the shop, leading to what can only be described as a jumbled up mess. The annoying expository voice over from the film's main protagonist scattered throughout the film is simply cringeworthy.
The CGI is this films saving grace, and is quite fantastic for the budget That along with the costumes and set designs, are probably the only saving graces of this dire film.
A film that features spaceships, Nazis and dinosaurs, should hit the target every time, but The Coming Race misses the target by a country mile.
After I'd watched this I actually felt quite angry. That sort of anger someone feels when their Tinder date doesn't match their profile picture in any way shape or form. Extremely disappointing.

The original Iron Sky was way better and I was a big fan of that amazing movie. Sadly, after all this waiting, the sequel is not so good.
The plot is bad (half the time I didn't know what the characters are trying to do or find or why), the effects are fine I guess (I love the spaceship scenes) and the jokes are weird and miss most of the time.
It's not a spoiler to tell you what is missing. Yes, the trailers were misleading to a certain degree. There is no Jesus, Putin is there just to dance and half of the scenes in the trailer are not in the movie. The characters have weak or no motivation at all and most of the things that happen seem convenient for the plot.
The movie just exists to exist. It serves no purpose. I only recommend it for the fans of the 1st movie and my suggestion is to rewatch Iron Sky 1 instead of this flick. That said, the very ending was brilliant!

I didn't expect much from a sequel to a movie about Moon Nazis, but they really pulled out the stops on this one. The first movie had a lot of dull moments with interesting, if campy, scenarios that made it a watchable film (but not memorable). This time around, the acting, environments, special effects and music all got much needed upgrades. With the exception of a needless subplot, I had fun with this and I didn't feel my eyes roll back even once in annoyance. It isn't a stellar movie, but it blows the doors off of any budget title or SyFy dross.
I really liked the 1st movie Iron Sky. When I figured out they made another one of these I grabbed a copy on DVD. Iron Sky was a really ridiculous, but fun movie. This sequel is not only not fun, but disorienting, unfunny and had a hard time maintaining my interest at all. The 1st movie was based on a wild conspiracy theory and this one goes even further with some even wilder conspiracy theories about shape shifting lizard people that are in high positions of power that rule over us and live in the center of the Earth. So to say this movie is all over the place is a kind statement. Udo Kier does return and does not save this movie or make it any more watchable. It took 5 years to make this and had a much bigger budget than the other film. I really wanted to like this, but it was a painful, incoherent and inept mess. I would suggest to stick to the original film and skip this one.

This was a must see movie for me. Long time fan of Star Wreck and Iron Sky. I had intentionally avoided seeing spoilers and reviews but since there was almost no ads anywhere to tell that movie is out I was skeptical that this is maybe not such an event as the first one was.
I'm not entirely sure why the movie was so awful but at least the story or just the script overall was so badly written that I half the movie I had my mouth open. It's like the movie is mix of scenes where there's plenty of actors and suddenly all the extras are missing in next scene which doesn't make any sense. There's no logic in some parts and there's some very poor acting which ruins the mood or a joke. I guess all the budget went to special effects and not enough to writers.
I can only recommend this movie if you are a fan who wants to throw their money away to keep future generations of dreaming making big scifi movies.

Even Iron Sky-The Coming race is a sequel for the first Iron Sky movie, it is easy to watch as an independent story. Screen write is so crazy, that it surely is not a art movie. And it doesn't have to be one. It is an crazy comedy and it will make you laugh. Silly ideas of human history has told a new way and history of a mankind will bee re written. Finally we get some sense for the story of Adam and Eve. Story doesn't bow to any religion, old or new, but make them laughable as they originally should be. Christianity, Muslim and I-religious are told and expressed the way they needed. Totally crazy way. Story telling is very rapid, but because the silliness of the story one and half an hour is more than enough for this movie.
Iron Sky-The Coming Race is silly movie, but what else can you expect of the story of Nazis in the moon. Acting is great and Udo Kier is great in double role of his. After all Iron Sky-The Coming race is very enjoyable movie despite of it's inadequacy. Movie sounds beautifully and CGI looks great. Despite all of it lacks it is great to see, that Finnish movie makers can make Hollywood quality spectacle. It surely is not the greatest movie you have ever seen, but very enjoyable crazy comedy science fiction flick. If you can enjoy the silly story with some clever jokes about religious and enjoy great soundtrack and beautiful CGI, this movie is made for you. Hopefully we will get a change to see the third movie of the trilogy near future. Meanwhile we can enjoy another Iron Sky movie, The Ark- Iron Sky Movie, which is in post production at the moment later this year.

Many reviews are being kinda rough, so let's analize a little bit.
Many users espects a Triple A movie with a storyline more epic than "The Lords of the Ring", but we must all not forget what are doing here.
If you watched or going to watch this movie, I bet you are not waitting for a "Star Wars" movie. We have to know what we get into. This movie is not about doing things in a great way, it's about doing bad in a great way. So for that they do just great. The story ain't the best but it's what we all signed for with "Iron Sky". The efects are great, the actors not the best one but we can see they love what they are doing, so they give us a great performance. The effects are way better than we hoped for, for this kind of movie, the Storyline is original with defects, of course. The ending couldn't be better. Is true that the actions, the eventes are kinda rushed in, but again, we must remember what we signed for.
If you expect a "serious" movie, this ain't, if you expect a "logical" movie, this ain't.
But if you expect a "WTF is going on", this movie is totally for you. Because once again, we must remeber what we signed up for, and in that case, this movie just gives exactly what you are waitting for.

To be fair, the first few minutes seem quite compelling. However, the film takes a huge nose dive soon after. Nothing makes any sense especially in relation to the first film. It is a complete non sequitur.
The saving grace of the first film, Iron Sky , the visual effects work. The plot was thin and the story was ropy but the design of the space crafts and space battles scenes gave it a stylish look that could have been built upon with the sequel.
Instead in terms of the VFX work nothing really connects the first film with the sequel and the style is lost. The director has thrown away the best parts of the first film and subsequently has no real platform to build upon.
The result is a shambling mess. It is hard to even find the will to spend time to describe how terrible it was. The trailers for other films were the best part of the showing. You should leave after those and then spend the next 90 minutes scraping your face with a cheese grater because that would be a more enjoyable thing to do than endure the torture of what Timo Vuorensola has to serve up to you. I can't believe he has a career after this complete waste of time and money.

Loved the first one, seen it several times. Cult classic, got a few people to check it out.
This one, this so-called sequel.
This one is utter garbage. I don't think I laughed, cheered, or smiled once.
Seriously.
Wide berth.
The script, the characters, the acting, it's all just terrible.
God, it's a dog bowl of awfulness.
All of it.

I was a big fan of the first Iron Sky. Mostly because of its humor and storyline that really worked in a weird but really funny way.
In this movie neither of them was there. Acting was not good either.
Movie ticket wasted and 1,5hour of my time wasted.
OK the writing was weak, but this was an entertaining flick, for those with the patience to sit through it. If you didn't you missed some hilarious moments.
Moon Nazis, dinosaurs, eternal life, the Hollow Earth, reptoids, and the 10 or so well known rulers of Agartha, I mean it doesn't get any better than this, this is a conspiracy theorist's dream! Don't know why they wasted their money on Tom Green, my uncle Wayne would have been better in that part but I guess he was available since I haven't heard his name in over 10 years.
Less satisfying than it was just plain dumb, but look on the bright side.... its only 90 minutes long and you'll be able to tell your friends you saw probably the most idiotic "movie" ever made.

If the silliness of the first film looked adequate and looked like some kind of simple sarcastic humor. Second film tries to play on the same note, but did it disgustingly. Flat silly humor on banal phrases, replaying of heroes, and some unhealthy craving for patterns about Russian behavior.

And no this is not innuendo or meant to be something about the actors - although if they take it as a compliment, they are welcome. No I'm talking about the movie itself. And while the technical aspect may not really play a role for some (or even many), because they may think it's easy to make a movie look good (I'd disagree and I have quite a few movies as evidence for that, recent ones of course), I very much acknowledge that here and salute and bow down to the makers for that.
Now the movie itself. If you have seen the first one (I'm assuming you have), you know what's what. You can't actually expect this to be something this is not! This is a silly movie to say the least. But it has upped its game from the previous effort. The acting is at least par to that .. though the silliness may even surpass that of the first one. There's digs at current politics (Quid pro Quo anyone?), that may not age well, but they are funny now at least ... and might work as just a silly side note in the years to come ... This movie does not pretend to be something it is not ... does this make it something you like to watch? That's for you to answer

My wife and I saw "Iron Sky: The Coming Race" yesterday and we found the unfunny screenplay very poor without development of the situation and characters. But now I have just read in IMDb that this film is a sequel of "Iron Sky". Therefore my advice to the viewers is do not see "Iron Sky: The Coming Race" without seeing "Iron Sky" first. My vote is four.

What's not to love Adolf Hitler riding a T. Rex that a woman karate kicks and floors it with this single kick. That's worth the admittance alone. An oddity that's worth watching.

I enjoyed Iron sky 2012 because of the seamless blending of reality & vfx, as well as the original (Nazis on the moon) concept & decent plot - however I feel the latest entry doesn't hold up to those standards.
Modern day moviegoers expect something more then the usual generic, politically correct fanfare as seen coming from Hollywood 24/7 & it's starting to show. My advice to Timo & his team would be not to fall into the same trap, don't over compensate with CGI due to the lack of a compelling story & plot - because the latter 2 elements, is what makes a memorable film. Good vfx should only be the icing on the cake.
Udo Kier & Julia did their best with the mediocre material at hand but that didn't save it for me as often bad writing does, it's unfortunate considering the potential the franchise had. In summation - keep your movies 'European & organic' because trying to emulate hollywood at every turn is a sure recipe for disaster.
I will recommend this one for a rent only.

One of the worst movies I've seen in resent years. In my opinion first movie was ok, this one is absolute trash. A sci fi comedy which didn't even make me smile, only thing that could've maybe make me chuckle, was Hitler riding a t-rex, but we saw that already in every trailer so the surprise factor was gone.
Actors were wooden, but it wasn't like the script gave them much to work on. Most "jokes" (if you can call them that) were old, it was quite clear that it had taken them a long time to finish the movie, because most of the references were long past their expiration date, but that was also a problem with the first one. If you're trying to make some pop culture or political references in your movie, YOU SHOULD NOT SPEND 7 YEARS to finish it, by that time the world has already moved on. Who even remembers Sarah Palin anymore? The Apple craze has been over for years now.
Don't waste your time or money with this one. Vuorensola should focus on something else than Iron Sky universe. I don't have much hope for the Ark.

I really wanted to be openminded and give a change but first time i felt really frustrated. Feeling commoon. Movie was a mess. Everything and nothing at the sametime. Like there would been group of high school filmgroup making a movie. Every idea put to same movie. It was a moment funny but fast started to frustrate. Like someone took and tried to take pieces from cult movies. Take piece from star wars, indiana jones, apollo movie, dino movie. So messy. Also added with poor political aspects and try to win people with uber strong female character and kevin hart character done poorly. Plot was all over the place and lot of really cool actors lost with messy and clumsy script/plot. It did not really bring anything cool. More like supee gringy and climax shot its self into to foot beeing so uncool. I canr recommend amyone to go and see it as its so over the wall. You might leace early as i many time was almost doing. Dont get why this movie was done as its nothing special. Multiple times parts that dont bring anything to the movie and make you think what why?
